Float Therapy | New Day Healing and Wellness

5040 Sanderlin Ave Suite 111, Memphis, TN 38117

Clear your mind and relax your body with float therapy. This is one of the many offerings at New Day Healing and Wellness, a natural therapy and holistic wellness spa.

Float therapy or float mediation therapy is exactly what it sounds like — guests enjoy the privacy of a personal pod with a “float tank” that allows them to float in the water at a near zero-gravity state. The low sensory movement will leave you feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and reconnected. Float therapy is reported to reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety, relieve chronic pain, spark creativity, and induce a state of deep relaxation, among other things.

Float sessions are $70 for a 50-minute session, but there is a special discount for first-time floaters. You can read more about the services offered at New Day Memphis here

Sound Therapy | Living Health Day Spa

5658 S Rex Rd Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38119

Living Health Day Spa provides various services aimed at pampering and recharging. However, it is perhaps best-known for offering one of the city’s most hard-to-find types of therapy: Sound Therapy. A technique to relax the body and mind and significantly reduce stress, Sound Therapy involves the use of Gongspell, a gong vibration that activates the parasympathetic nervous system.

Aside from gongs, the spa also uses Himalayan and crystal bowls, bells, chimes, and other sound tools to help restore, relax, or re-energize the body. Gong and Himalayan Bowl sessions are $95 and last approximately 60 minutes. You can learn more about the offerings and specials here

The Salt Caves

684 W Brookhaven Circle, Memphis, TN 38117

While The Salt Caves (part of the Better Bodies Yoga family) has multiple person “caves” they also offer salt bed sessions which is the perfect solution for those of us who prefer privacy. Experience a rapid, deep relaxation with a built-in heating system which conquers muscular tension and soreness. Some people book salt bed sessions over salt cave sessions for amplified benefits for skin issues such as psoriasis, eczema, rashes, and acne. The salt bed description also lists a “full respiratory detox” which sounds delightful!

And if that weren’t enough, there is the added benefit of Chromotherapy, an ambient lighting system to aid in internal harmony. A recent Instagram post also highlights how the salt bed relieves icky sinus problems, helps sleep patterns, and provides electrolytes and essential minerals. See more about this soothing salt therapy here!

Acupuncture | Xu Wellness Center

235 Germantown Bend Cove, Cordova, TN 38018

Specializing in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Xu Wellness is well-known for acupuncture, a practice that involves the placement of thin, flexible needles at specific points throughout the body to promote healing. Lucky for needle-shy people, the pins generally do not hurt — they have rounded tips that push the skin apart rather than sharp points. The acupuncture practice typically lasts 15 to 30 minutes, and the price for an initial acupuncture session is $90.

Acupuncture has been credited with a variety of benefits including alleviating pain, improving digestion, and promoting better sleep. Learn more about the practice and view other services from Xu Wellness here
