StyleBlueprint Artificial Intelligence Policy
Creator compensation
At StyleBlueprint, we believe the data used to train AI models should be disclosed clearly, and that intellectual property and copyright holders should share in the value those models create. That is not how the industry works today. We will continue to support fairer licensing and transparency for all publishers and creators like us. In the meantime, AI is a transformational technology, and we will use it to help run our business, not to replace human creative professionals.
Our editorial is human-made
StyleBlueprint’s original long-form editorial is researched, written, and edited by our staff writers and freelancers. AI is never a byline ghostwriter for the StyleBlueprint voice.
How we use AI
We value AI as an assistant to work, not a replacement for it. We may use AI to brainstorm, organize, and refine human-created ideas, suggest headlines, tighten language, improve SEO, and support other workflow and creative tasks. We may also use AI for support work, such as short, structured copy, social posts, Happenings calendar entries, partner creative, and internal operations. A person always reviews AI-assisted work before it is published, sent, or filed. Even for this small work, a human always stays in the loop. We are responsible for what we publish and send. The machine never is.
Images and photography
Our goal is real photography by real photographers in our local communities wherever possible.
- We may use AI to enhance and edit images (for example, to add text), not to invent what a photo shows, except for clearly labeled illustrations or partner ad art.
- Allowed enhancements include color and exposure correction, cropping and resizing, dust and small distraction removal, and upscaling.
- Not allowed in editorial content: adding, removing, or changing anything that alters what was actually there, such as people, food, products, or rooms.
- We never create or alter the likeness of a real person without their permission.
- We never use AI to remove watermarks or credits, recreate a copyrighted image, or imitate a specific photographer’s or artist’s style.
- Any image created or substantially altered by AI is labeled in its caption or credit.
Editorial standards
StyleBlueprint has zero tolerance for plagiarism and copyright infringement. See our Editorial Policy.
Policy Updates
Our goal is to give you, the StyleBlueprint audience member, the best stories to read and share with your friends and family. AI is now part of all our worlds, and we will continue to explore its capabilities to help with the business-process work of producing great stories. Those stories will always be from real people. We’ll regularly update our policy, and we always want feedback on ways to do it better: https://styleblueprint.com/corporate/contact/
