With over two decades of experience, Leah Bailey of Leah Bailey Interiors has made a name for herself by blending classic European influences with the breezy charm of the Southern coast — a signature style she calls “Lowcountry luxury.” Collected, layered, and elegant, her interior design projects are often inspired by the beauty and history of the surrounding landscape.

Leah even has two lifestyle shops in Savannah and Old Town Bluffton that offer a glimpse into the artful way she brings stories to life. Get to know our latest Interior Design Crush!

What inspired your interior design career?

Growing up, I was always fascinated by how designers dressed and how homes could reflect personality just like a favorite outfit. I’ve loved fabrics and colors since I was a little girl, and honestly, I never considered doing anything else. I always knew I wanted to be a designer; it’s just always been in me.

Savannah has such a distinct personality. How does the city influence your design aesthetic?

Savannah is a city full of soul — so much history, charm, and effortless grace. That sense of timelessness really resonates with me. I love to tap into my own lineage and history through design, blending Savannah’s classic Lowcountry style with a French twist that feels inspired.

You have shops where you sell everything from apparel to home decor. Can you tell us about them?

Funny enough, I always said I would never open a retail shop — and now here I am with two! Bluffton is coming up on five years, and Savannah just turned two. They’ve both grown into these amazing lifestyle spaces filled with all the things I love: pieces I use in my own home, brands I wear, and designs from my projects. The shops really reflect my personal style and have become such a rewarding part of my journey. I’m so excited to keep expanding and connecting with new communities.

What are a few of your favorite pieces in the shop that we should have on our radar?

Definitely the antiques. Each piece is hand-selected from markets and dealers around the world — true one-of-a-kind finds that bring soul and character to any space. They add history, texture, and a sense of storytelling that can’t be replicated. Our inventory moves quickly, so I always recommend keeping an eye on the website. There’s always that one piece that speaks to someone.

Can you describe a project that pushed you creatively or challenged your usual process?

A recent project that I worked on, which happens to be my largest project to date, was definitely one of the most creatively challenging projects, simply because of the scale. Everything was custom — the lighting, the furniture, even the front door! We had this massive six-foot-wide front door that had to be taken off the hinges just to fit the great room chandelier through it. Every detail was thought through, and it pushed me to think bigger, literally. Huge shoutout to Lowcountry Originals for making those custom fixtures a reality.

What’s one design rule you love to break?

Mixing finishes! I love combining antique brass with polished nickel; it adds interest and warmth. I think sticking to just one metal finish can make a space feel flat, and I’m always looking for that extra layer of visual texture.

What’s the most memorable room you’ve ever designed, and what made it stand out?

My own outdoor living space. It’s where I host constantly, and it feels like an extension of my home. I bring indoor accessories outside — pillows, throws, antiques, even candles — to create that same feeling of comfort and personality. It’s casual but curated, and it’s where some of my favorite memories have been made.

What is your favorite space or design element in your own home, and why?

It’s still that outdoor space. It’s my sanctuary, my gathering place, and where my love of entertaining really shines. It reflects everything I value in design: beauty, comfort, and connection.

What design advice can you offer to elevate our homes?

Fresh florals, year-round. They instantly elevate a space and shift with the seasons, adding natural color, scent, and texture. It’s such a simple way to make your home feel thoughtful and alive.

Can you describe your design philosophy in five words?

Timeless. Intentional. Refined. Personal. Layered.
