There are a few houses in Nashville that instantly inspire me the moment I walk through the front door. Ann Spalding’s house is one of these homes. In Ann’s past career as an accessorizer for many designers in town, she was often called on to help with final details. She also maintained her own list of design clients. Now, however, Ann is half the duo behind one of StyleBlueprint’s favorite jewelry lines, GoodmanSpalding. As busy as she is with her new venture, she continues to help out clients, especially with holiday decor. (Sorry, she’s not taking any new clients.) When it comes to her own home, she takes a simple approach, adding just a little here and there. I like a simple approach and was thrilled that Ann let me capture some pictures to share today.

Ann says she always likes to work with what clients already have.  She encourages you to get out your silver and glass bowls, your crystal and your place settings. Think of creative ways to decorate by filling up a bowl with cranberries or pine needles. Candles add big punch and can be used year round. And, remember, ornaments do not have to be hung on your tree – incorporate them into your holiday mantles and table displays.

Be sure to check out GoodmanSpalding in town at Spruce, Caldwell Collection, The Perfect Pair and Coco.

A gorgeous front door

The entry.  Notice no garland or bows on the railing, but a clear shot of the wreath on the back door.

Presents are wrapped and silver is polished.

Across from the tree, this table is home for some silver trees and…

The Bible, opened to the Christmas narrative of Jesus’ birth.

One more look at this table, as it’s pretty much perfect. Three trees echoing the trinity, a saint, the Bible, hushed colors.

The tree is filled with silver and clear glass ornaments, white lights and crystal garland. It’s absolutely lovely.

Ann’s coffee table in her living room. Silver and clear ornaments with lots of white pillar candles.

Small embellishments, like crystals, and these silver ornaments hang on candles throughout the house.

Another example of a decorated candle. This votive “topper” comes off when you want it to be plain. Notice the pine cone tea candle?

Ann has a collection of Santas, most of which were purchased over the years at Ilex. This Santa hangs out next to the front door.

The pass-through from the family room to the kitchen is beautifully highlighted with this reindeer, a bowl of ornaments and pine cone candles.

A bowl of pine cones (and don’t you love that one looks like it “fell” out?) paired with beeswax candles is festive. See what else is there, below..

Ornaments add color and flair to the enormous pine cones.

The white snowman accents perfectly.

The manager scene sits on a side table, perfectly simple.

Ann has a gorgeous kitchen with a sitting area. Another Santa finds his home on the table here.

Add faux cranberry wreaths with moss along with white pillar candles and voila – instant Christmas.

As I drove away, I knew I had to capture her pretty mailbox!

Thanks, Ann! (note, the front door wreath and mailbox were done by Stacey Perry from Down To The Wire)
