If you’re anything like us, you’re trying to figure out how May flew by but also seemed to last forever. Now that school is officially finished and summer festivities are in full swing, we’re embracing all that June has to offer. In addition to the endless graduation parties, weddings and backyard BBQs on the calendar, there are a bunch of great events to have on your radar. When it comes to enjoying the best in Nashville food, drink and music, we’ve got our eyes on Taste of Music City, CMA Fest and Full Moon Pickin’ Parties and figuring out exactly what to wear to each.
Because summer weather is really here to stay, we’re focusing our June outfits on styles that are bright, comfy and casual. The lovely Caroline Cook, blogger Melissa Haithcock and stylist Priya Mani joined us as our models, styled by fabulous Cynthia Kelley once again. From Percy Warner to Nissan Stadium, these three June events will have you traveling all around Nashville as you soak in all the great tunes and festival fun. We headed to the Tennessee State Museum for the photoshoot, which features an incredible Nashville skyline backdrop. Escape the heat for a fun family activity this summer and explore this 137,000 sq. foot museum that opened October of last year.
The Event: Taste of Music City
- June 1, 2019
- Casual attire
- Public Square Park
- 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Adult General Admission tickets are $59 and children’s General Admission tickets are $15. Reserve yours here.
We’d say that an impressive lineup of featured chefs, beloved Nashville restaurants, beverage selections and fun local bands is the perfect way to kick off the month of June. On the first of the month, join other food lovers around town for the 17th Annual Taste of Music City in Public Square Park. From Mexican to barbecue and cookies to hotdogs, this fun festival has more than one thing for everyone. Your general admission ticket includes a souvenir tasting glass and access to all of the tastings.
What to Wear: Though it may not be officially summer yet, you should count on this Saturday to be a hot one. Whether the festival is the only event on the agenda for the day or just one stop on a tour of activities, we love the idea of employing a casual sundress. Either sleeveless during the heat of the day or layered with a denim jacket for a later evening, choose a colorful dress that will have you comfortably ready to walk, strut, sip and savor.

The Event: CMA Fest
- June 6-9, 2019
- Casual attire
- Venues throughout Nashville
- Times vary
- Tickets vary from free to $400 for a four-day weekend pass. Reserve yours here.
If you’ve ever experienced CMA Fest in all of its glory, you know it’s a summer event that you can’t miss. For four days, taking place on over ten stages around Music City and welcoming hundreds of musicians, this festival represents the best in Nashville’s country music scene. Whether you snag tickets to see the biggest names at Nissan Stadium or just explore the downtown fun with fellow country music fans on Broadway, you’re in for an incredible weekend.
What to Wear: When planning your CMA Fest outfit(s), the most important consideration is your ability to move. Both as you hop around to different venues, restaurants and spots in Nashville and as you groove to the tunes of the hour, you should be ready for anything that comes your way. Snag a feminine floral print dress for date night, a versatile romper with the girls or a pair of white jeans when you’re just posting up downtown for drinks and absorbing the festive ambiance.

It’s a good thing there are more than one Full Moon Pickin’ Party this summer because each time you attend one, you’ll be checking the calendar for the next. On June 21, the second party (of six total in 2019) gathers bluegrass fans around Nashville to enjoy an evening of pickin’ under the moonlight. Buy your ticket in advance to beat the crowds, bring your chair and get ready to enjoy this treasured tradition while raising money to protect the Parks and to fund educational programs and special projects.
What to Wear: There is no required dress code for the Full Moon Pickin’ Parties, so choose what is most comfortable and ample for moonlight pickin’! Break out those adorable staple denim shorts with a tee, a light sweater (perhaps with a layer underneath in case the music moves you) or a fun pair of printed pants.
