September brings with it hopes of cooler temperatures and the promise of fun events. We kick off the month at Chukkers for Charity, eat and drink with the animals at Nashville Zoo’s Sunset Safari and cap things off by sampling more than 150 beers at the Nashville Brew Fest. Plus, this month, we’re styling both the gals AND the guys, so be sure to pass these style suggestions along to anyone who needs a little inspiration.

The fabulous Cynthia Kelley is here to offer her expertise around dressing for the occasion and tapping into fall’s hottest trends. She dressed the co-chairs of Chukkers for Charity, Nina Lindley and Matt Paco, and we explored the breathtaking grounds of Riverview Farm, stopping to pet the horses and pups and to admire the lovely surroundings.

Enjoy these fabulous looks from Oak Hall and Johnston & Murphy for some of Nashville’s top September events!

The Event: Chukkers for Charity

  • September 7, 2019
  • Elevated summer chic
  • Riverview Farm
  • 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • General admission tickets are $20, and tables and cabanas are available for purchase as well.

Each year, Chukkers for Charity Polo Match & Classic Car Show raises money for two benevolent Nashville charities. Saddle Up is a therapeutic riding facility that offers equine-based programs for children with disabilities. The Rochelle Center offers support to adults who have developmental disabilities through their numerous programs, including day programs and community-based living. To date, Chukkers for Charity has raised more than $3.3 million for these two organizations and hopes to significantly boost that number this year. On September 7, corral your friends and family, pack a picnic and head to picturesque Riverview Farm for a day of late-summer fun.

What to wear: For what will likely be a toasty day in Nashville, opt for lighter colors and breathable fabrics. For the gals, we love a sleeveless shift dress in a fun color. Bring along a scarf or shawl in case it cools down or to shield your shoulders from the sun. For the guys, don a jacket, maybe with a subtle pattern to add some flair, and your most festive bowtie.

Event: Sunset Safari at Nashville Zoo

  • September 19, 2019
  • Safari chic
  • Nashville Zoo
  • 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Tickets start at $150.

Sunset Safari at Nashville Zoo combines some of our very favorite things all into one night — delicious Nashville bites, yummy cocktails, live entertainment and, most importantly, all of those adorable zoo animals. This annual fundraiser, presented by UBS, supports the efforts of Nashville Zoo and offers an evening where wildlife and nightlife collide. This year, more than 60 of Nashville’s best restaurants will bring their best fare, and three judges will award “best savory dish” and “best sweet dish,” leaving the final vote to guests. The evening is bound to be wildly entertaining and an event you don’t want to miss!

What to wear: The attire for Sunset Safari is “safari chic,” which means it’s the perfect time to try out a fun animal print if you haven’t already. This trend is projected to continue well beyond fall, so pick up a funky leopard purse or pretty blouse, and rock it at the Sunset Safari. For the guys, a button-down shirt in earthy tones with khakis looks festive and stays cool and comfortable.

Event: Nashville Brew Festival

  • September 20, 2019
  • Nashville festive
  • First Tennessee Park
  • 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Tickets start at $45.

Head to First Tennessee Park with your family, friends or significant other, and enjoy a night of beer tasting and fun. More than 50 breweries from Nashville and beyond will serve more than 150 different beers at Nashville Brew Festival, and once you buy your ticket, samples are unlimited! The Food Truck Alley will be packed with some of Nashville’s best trucks, including Cousin’s Maine Lobster, That Awesome Taco Truck and more. Finally, play mini-golf, corn hole, ping pong and more at the Band Box with your pals.

What to wear: There’s a chance of a chill in the air, so for the ladies, we recommend layers! Pair a black silk tank with a beautiful statement jacket, and you’ll be comfortable throughout the evening. Add layers of jewelry, too, to spice things up a little for nighttime. For the guys, a polo shirt and chinos are kicked up a notch with fun accessories like patterned socks and a cross-stitch Nashville belt. Comfort is key as you walk around First Tennessee Park in search of your new favorite brew!
