Our only requirement for a burger is a juice patty grilled to perfection — the rest is up to the chef. In the case of these 25 burgers, each chef took creative liberties to kick the classic burger up a notch — making them above average and, frankly, pretty delicious! Whether topped with bacon, cheese or something special, served on a bun or biscuit, or made with beef or veggies, these burgers meet our requirement and fit the bill for being some of the best in town.

Nashville Burgers with Bacon

Few things complement a burger better than a crispy piece of bacon (or two!). While bacon can be found on plenty of burgers around town, we had to highlight these five, which are completed by the addition of perfectly fatty, salty, fried pieces of bacon.

The Green Hills Grille burger is finished off with a few slices of crispy bacon!

Green Hills Grille — BLBIGH Burger

2002 Richard Jones Road, Suite #104-A, Nashville, TN 37215 • (615) 620-8390
Hours: Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday & Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Green Hills Grille re-opened their doors under new ownership last fall, and locals rejoiced over the return of this local dining staple that held court in the neighborhood for many years. Their menu brings back old favorites that live alongside new dishes, all of which fit into the category of modern American cuisine. Of course, the freshly ground beef burger, which comes with the traditional fixings of cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, red onion and — you guessed it — bacon, is one of the top menu items.

Edgehill — The Edgehill Burger

1201 Villa Place, Suite #101, Nashville, TN 37212 • (615) 942-5717
Hours: Monday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Edgehill, recently opened in a new spot steps away from their old location, is serving up breakfast, brunch, lunch and (soon) dinner. When we can convince ourselves not to order breakfast at any time of the day (which is rare), we are drawn toward the Edgehill Burger, which modernizes a classic cheeseburger and is topped with bacon, smoked cheddar, mayo and homemade pickles.

Firefly Grille —Firefly Burger

2201 Bandywood Dr, Nashville, TN 37215 • (615) 383-0042

Hours: Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 a.m.; Friday & Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Offering American food with Southern comfort food flair, Firefly Burger is a fun Nashville staple. Their seasonal menu includes a number of fantastic meat dishes, including their popular grilled chicken thighs and the 18 oz Flintstone Pork Chop. However, their burger is a mouthwatering standout — bacon, white cheddar, lettuce,  tomato-onion marmalade and horseradish aioli on a brioche bun.

McCabe Pub — Best Bacon Cheeseburger in Town

4410 Murphy Road, Nashville, TN 37209 • (615) 269-9406
Hours: Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

McCabe Pub opened their doors in Sylvan Park in 1982 and has been providing the neighborhood with mouth-watering burgers ever since. The folks at McCabe don’t mess with tradition and continue to draw folks in for their juicy cheeseburger that only is made better with the addition of crisp bacon. All of McCabe’s burgers (eight in all) are cooked well-done and served with mayonnaise — so if you like yours another way, just ask.

Nashville Burgers That Pair Well with a Cold Beer

A grilled burger and cold beer go hand in hand. And although these burgers are delicious enough to stand on their own, there is something about the perfectly greasy burger and the lively environments in which they are served that calls for a glass — or a pitcher — of ice-cold beer.

Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint — Cheeseburger

1123 Third Ave. N., Nashville, TN 37208 • (615) 818-0318
Hours: Monday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Despite its popularity in the Virginia area, we were first introduced to Jack Brown’s by our friends in Birmingham. We were elated to hear that this burger and beer joint was making its way to Nashville and welcomed them to the Germantown neighborhood when they opened their doors last summer. If you are looking for something other than a burger, might we suggest you look elsewhere. Try one of the everyday burgers — such as the Wagyu patty topped with American cheddar — and pair it with a craft beer.

Brown’s Diner — Cheeseburger

2102 Blair Blvd., Nashville, TN 37212 • (615) 269-5509
Hours: Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

For more than 85 years, Brown’s Diner has been a well-loved watering hole and the diner’s patrons are known to order cold, refreshing beers to wash down Brown’s hot-off-the-grill cheeseburgers. Dubbed by many as the best burger in Nashville, Brown’s Diner’s cheeseburger with mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle lives up to the title.

Nashville Burgers That Go Beyond the Traditional Bun

Many say that the burger starts with the bun and, in the case of these four burgers, those words could not be more accurate. They are here to prove that buns can be crafted from French bread, biscuits, pretzels, sweet potatoes — and everything in between. So if you are hunting for a burger that lives outside the norm, look no further than these local spots.

It is only fitting that Biscuit Love’s burger is served atop one of their flaky, handmade biscuits. The Wash Park, as the burger is named, features a beef burger with pimiento cheese and bacon jam (If this doesn’t scream Southern, we don’t know what does). Biscuit Love’s version of a burger is the perfect hangover elixir — or so we hear — and the biscuit makes it ideal for brunch or lunch.

The sweetness of the sweet potato bun on M.L. Rose’s NashVegas Burger is a welcomed complement to the barbecue sauce, rich pimiento cheese and crispy tobacco onions that top this craft burger. M.L. Rose does not have a shortage of burger options but this one is a stand-out, as it’s served on something other than the traditional bun.

Nashville Burgers That Save the Cows

And a cow might just thank you for opting for one of these.
