Summer is far from over and the buzzing Nashville calendar proves it. This month in the Music City promises some great parties, festivals and exhibitions for friends, date night or the entire family. But before you get busy, remember that it is one of the most critical times to consider your choice of clothing before embracing the summer heat. To offer the full breadth of great outfit possibilities, we’re showing you what to wear for the 4th of July, the Summer Cocktail Crawl and the Music City Brewer’s Festival.
We are honored to have three beautiful and incredibly talented musicians, Jenny Tolman, Jessica Roadcap and StyleBlueprint’s very own Lacy Green modeling these July looks, styled by the fabulous Alison Saylor. For its striking colors, unique design and visualization of some rooftop firework views, we headed downtown to the Fairlane Hotel for the photoshoot (check out 4th on Four to see how they invite you to spend the holiday). Take a peek to find out how you can fashion these adorable ensembles and embrace all that this month has in store!
The Event: 4th of July
- July 4, 2019
- Red, white & blue attire!
If you’re anything like us, you’ve been anticipating that 4th of July hot dog for the better part of the year and the time has finally come. From the lake to the mountains and the beach to downtown Nashville, we hope your 4th of July brings plenty of great food, fun activities and special memories celebrating our country with family and friends. But really, if you are sticking around Nashville, there is plenty to keep you busy. Check out the local happenings here and don’t miss those epic downtown fireworks.
What to Wear: While the color scheme may be simple, sometimes dressing for the holiday is anything but. Yes, you can wear all red. Yes, you can wear simple denim cutoffs. Yes, you can wear all white, but only after you accept a certain level of risk when condiments are involved. If you’re going to a rooftop party, you don’t have to forfeit comfort for something that is elevated and chic. Find a dress with some breathing room or fabrics that won’t get clingy while you spend the evening outdoors. As much as we love a great flag shirt to sport your pride, a shirt with some stars or stripes will do the trick and stay stylish year-round. Whatever your plans may be, find something that allows you to feel your best as you celebrate Independence Day with pride!

The Event: Summer Cocktail Crawl at Cheekwood
- July 11 & 25, 2019
- Evening casual
- Cheekwood Estate & Gardens
- 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Tickets purchased in advance are $15 for members and $25 for not-yet members. Tickets purchased onsite are $25 for members and $30 for not-yet members. Get yours here.
You’re just about halfway through the summer but have no fear, you still have time to experience the fun of Cheekwood’s Summer Cocktail Crawl! Every second and fourth Thursday of the month through August, head to the beautiful sprawling summer gardens at Cheekwood to cruise the adorable Storybook Houses exhibit (the kids will also love it … on another day) as you sip deliciously crafted cocktails. Reserve your spot for $40 on July 11 or 25 (or both) to take a journey that is both scenic and full of festive, refreshing flavors. Also enjoy delicious bites from food trucks, tunes from DJs and plenty of lawn games. Here’s to another summer of experiencing the treasures at the beloved Cheekwood Estate & Gardens!
What to Wear: Your proper attire for the Summer Cocktail Crawl is just as you would expect — fun, bright and cool. We love the idea of pulling out a great midi skirt or dress that allows for a full expression of pattern and lots of movement. The beauty of these skirts and dresses is that they can be dressed up or down. Whether you’re heading out for date night or just needing a great go-to with sandals or sneakers, this length can magically take you anywhere.

The Event: Music City’s Brewer’s Festival
- July 27, 2019
- Casual
- Walk of Fame Park
- 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- General Admission tickets are $49 per person and VIP tickets are $75 per person.
Though we love the days when we can take our pick in visiting one of the many great Nashville breweries, we’re also pretty excited that this July, we can sample 40 of the best local, regional and imported breweries all in one place: the 18th Annual Music City Brewer’s Festival. This outdoor festival is a Nashville favorite and an absolute must for your summer calendar. Enjoy live music while you explore the beers and contribute to a great cause, as a portion of each ticket will be donated to the Nashville Humane Association. The tickets will sell out, so reserve yours soon! You must be 21+ to attend.
What to Wear: When you’re joining 5,000 of your closest Nashville friends to enjoy delicious beer samples for an entire evening, we highly recommend you opt for comfort. That being said, you can (and should) still embrace all the fun of summer styles before you head to Walk of Fame Park. A skirt can be surprisingly easy, a two-piece can do all the work for you and a headband can finish it off. At the end of the day, we think it might be harder to figure out your route during the festival than it will be to find something cute to wear. Here are some great places to start!
