Now that we have a month of 2020 under our belt, we have our sights set on a bright future with even brighter clothing. Today, we’re featuring nine of this season’s hottest trends and how to style them. This month’s looks are styled by Oak Hall, Southern Muse and Mozelle Boutique, and we modeled the styles at the oh-so-gorgeous Flourish Studio, East Memphis’ newest spot for coworking, meetings and more.
Here’s to February and some fun looks!
The Event: Sweet Street on Broad
- February 7, 2020
- 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- $5 for a punch card
- For more information, visit facebook.com.
Get your punch card and sample mouthwatering treats from local retailers, including Wiseacre Brewing Company, City & State, Falling Into Place, Merchants on Broad, Bingham & Broad and more. After your Sweet Street tour, drop off your card for a chance to win a basket of Broad Avenue goodies!
What to wear: This is an outdoor event, so you’ll definitely want to bundle up. But a fun and flirty foundational outfit is always in style — an adorable heart-laden top, a feminine frock or a gauzy blouse and pastel jeans all fit the bill. And don’t forget your wide-brim hat!

The Event: Whiskey, Wine, and Chocolates
- February 14, 2020
- 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Tickets are $40 for members; $50 for non-members
- For more information, visit memphisbotanicgarden.com.
Join chocolatier Chef Phillip Ashley at the Memphis Botanic Garden this Valentine’s Day for Whiskey, Wine, and Chocolates, and dazzle your taste buds with his array of designer chocolates and confections. As he pairs sweets with select whiskey, wines and cocktails, this is guaranteed to be an evening to remember. Live music, cigars, a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres round out this elegant Memphis event.
What to wear: Since this event is on Valentine’s Day, a soft, romantic look is the way to go. A dressy romper, classy bodysuit with colored pants or fun jumpsuit will be right on cue.

The Event: Garden to Table Dinner with Chef Phillip Dewayne and Aaron Bertelsen
- February 20, 2020
- 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- $150 per ticket
- For more information, visit dixon.org.
Join Dixon Resident Chef Phillip Dewayne and Great Dixter Gardener Aaron Bertelsen for Garden to Table Dinner, an English manor-style dinner prepared with locally sourced seasonal produce and meats. Enjoy three family-style courses with beer and wine selections while seated at a table with either Chef Phillip or Aaron Bertelsen at the head. The meal will feature micro-greens and edible florals grown by Dixon horticulturalist and urban farmer Adam Queen, floral arrangements grown in the Dixon Cutting Garden and arranged by floral designer Kim Jameson, and fresh meats from Home Place Pastures in Como, MS. Each ticket includes the three courses as well as drinks and a signed copy of Aaron’s cookbook, Grow Fruit and Vegetables in Pots.
What to wear: This is what we like to call a “creative cocktail” look. It means something different for everyone, but for the gals, we recommend a fun dress or skirt and blouse. And don’t forget a striking pair of heels and some bold statement jewelry.
