From honky-tonks to packed patios and cocktail bars buzzing well past midnight, Nashville knows how to make a little noise. But lately, a quieter (and arguably cooler) trend is emerging: vinyl record listening lounges. Refreshingly intimate, these spots are quickly becoming the go-to for low-key date nights, catch-up sessions with friends, and anyone craving a more thoughtful way to enjoy music. Here are three Nashville spots leading the charge, plus one coming soon.

Upstairs at Audrey

Neighborhood: East Nashville
More Info: audreynashville.com

Head upstairs at Audrey and you’ll find a quieter, more intimate counterpart to the lively restaurant below. Previously known as The Bar at Audrey, Upstairs at Audrey is a reimagined space that leans into a more relaxed atmosphere where music enhances the experience rather than stealing the spotlight.

Inviting guests to slow down and really listen, a limited selection of albums is played in full (as they were meant to be heard). Even better? The snacks and drinks are all priced at $5. Or, if you’re feeling extra hungry, order the popular Audrey Burger for $15.

The vibe is relaxed and intimate, with music that feels intentional without overpowering the room, proving that sometimes the best nights out are the ones where you don’t feel rushed to leave.

Groceries Etc.

Neighborhood: East Nashville
More Info: groceriesetc.bar

Sitting above Mama Bread and Lemon Laine on Woodland Street, Groceries Etc. feels like the kind of place you stumble into once and then immediately start bringing everyone you know. Equal parts moody cocktail bar and music-lover’s hideaway, the space is anchored by a wall of vinyl records that sets the tone long before you even order a drink.

A lit white sign reading "BAR" is mounted on a brick building at night, hinting at a cozy vinyl lounge inside, with a dark sky and streetlight visible in the background.Pin

Inside, a tall wood ceiling and cushy, tucked-away seating areas make it easy to linger. Some corners are also stocked with board games and books, encouraging guests to settle in and soak in the music around them.

The soundtrack is just as thoughtful as the setting. Rotating DJs spin records throughout the evening, pulling from an eclectic mix that could jump from Radiohead to Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, or Childish Gambino. Pair these vibes with one of Groceries Etc.’s specialty cocktails or whatever small bites are listed on the board behind the bar. Regulars swear by the rum-based Art of Choke, a mix of cynar, lime, demerara, and green chartreuse.

888

Neighborhood: Downtown
More Info: 888nashville.com

At 888, vinyl isn’t just a decorative afterthought; it’s the heartbeat of the space. The lounge’s floor-to-ceiling vinyl wall was curated by Atmosphere Manager Chip Bouchard and built in collaboration with two legendary Nashville music institutions: United Record Pressing and Grimey’s. Together, they’ve built (and continue to evolve) a collection of around 2,000 records.

The wall is organized by genre, spanning soul, jazz, R&B, hip-hop, disco, rock ‘n’ roll, and everything in between. Every record is there on purpose, chosen to create a listening experience that’s warm, groove-driven, and emotionally resonant.

If you’re wondering what this actually sounds like, the team at 888 sums it up best: “If Jamiroquai produced a track for James Brown and Mac Miller wrote the hook. The vibe is polished but playful, nostalgic without feeling stuck in the past.”

Music lovers will also appreciate a few “holy grail” records tucked into the collection, including a mint-condition Andy Warhol-designed “The Velvet Underground & Nico” album with the original banana sticker intact, a signed A$AP Rocky record, and Mac Miller’s full discography represented on vinyl.

COMING SOON: Cultivar

Neighborhood: Germantown
More Info: cultivarnashville.com

Slated to open in Germantown in Spring 2026, Cultivar is shaping up to be one of Nashville’s most thoughtful new neighborhood bars. The concept comes from a powerhouse team of industry pros, James Beck, Nic Berry, Vinny Maniscalo, and Storm Sheler, and it’s rooted in the idea of intentionality.

Housed in a historic Craftsman home, you can expect lush botanicals, light-filled rooms, and green hues that set the perfect tone. Music obviously plays a central role here, too, with an immersive hi-fi listening experience made possible through custom acoustic treatments in partnership with GIK Acoustics — a detail that signals this is a spot for people who genuinely care about how music sounds.

Signature cocktails will lean herbal-forward, bright, and balanced, while equally thoughtful non-alcoholic options are also a permanent fixture. A snackable food program featuring cheeses, cured meats, pickled vegetables, and locally sourced bread rounds out the offerings nicely.

Happy listening!
