Imbibe in sweets, exchange gifts and smell the flowers, all in the name of St. Valentine. If you don’t have a Valentine, we still say embrace the holiday in all of its Hallmark-card splendor by throwing a celebration for you and your girlfriends. With a bit of expert help, we put together an elegant table setting, and you can too with these two important tips.

The formula for a Valentine’s Day table is simple: pink accents, sweat treats and something to sip on.

Whether hosting a formal dinner or a casual affair, add gold to the color scheme to balance out the pinks and whites.

Tip #1: Filling vases of various shapes and sizes with fresh flowers helps set a tone of feminine elegance.

“When I set my dinner party table with a collection of small vases, I do it with the anticipation that each guest will leave with a flower favor – nothing compares to the gift of flowers, especially for the holidays,” says Anna Page, owner of Nashville-based Rebel Hill Florist. Rebel Hill Florist artfully arranged the flowers for this table setting. Everything from the large arrangement and small vases to the individual flowers at each place setting helps set the tone.

Mix and match your vases to hold fresh flowers. When selecting your flower colors, stick to whites, pinks and greens.

Tip #2: Save subtlety for another day and repeat the pink hues of the floral arrangement in your drinks and desserts.

We chose pink and white macarons, white and pink donuts and rosé gummy bears and cherry bombs for our sweets. Plan a menu that pairs with these treats or simply offer festive appetizers for something savory. Either way, be sure to serve rosé (just as much for its crisp, refreshing taste as for its lovely shade of pink). By using food to add color, you can quickly avoid kitschy Valentine’s Day décor.

Allow the different shades of pink to play off each other. Use gold, white and navy as neutrals to tie the table setting together.

Guests will be glad to pass donuts, macarons and confections around the table!

Yes, it maybe cliché to drink rosé on Valentine’s Day, but that makes it all the more fun.

Nashville-based Rebel Hill Florist is responsible for all of the stunning arrangements. In an effort not to crowd the table, we used the larger arrangement to add life to the dessert table.
