Day trips are the perfect way to break up your routine and discover hidden gems, while still remaining close to home. One of our favorite treks is to Corinth, MS, less than three hours from major Southern cities like Oxford, MS, Huntsville, AL, and Memphis, TN! This charming small town offers a little something for everyone, and we’ve put together the perfect itinerary to help you experience it all — from delicious eats to fascinating historical sites.
MORNING
Before officially embarking on your adventures, fuel up with a delicious, hearty breakfast from Abe’s Grill. A local staple for nearly 50 years, the restaurant is known for tasty classics like pancakes and omelets. And don’t skip the eatery’s famous homemade biscuits!
After breakfast, it’s time to start exploring! The Civil War Interpretive Center is a great place to start your day, offering an in-depth look at Corinth’s rich Civil War history. The 15,000-square-foot museum hosts interactive multimedia displays and exhibits that highlight various historic events, including the Battle of Shiloh and the Siege and Battle of Corinth.
If you’d prefer to spend your morning outside, Crossroads Regional Park offers outdoor fun for the entire family. The perfect place to enjoy nature and fresh air, the park includes a disc golf course, a one-mile paved trail, a spacious playground, and covered picnic areas.
Golfers can enjoy playing a few rounds at Shiloh Ridge Golf Course & Athletic Club. The semi-private course offers 18 holes alongside amenities like a full-service health club, a swimming pool, and tennis courts.
AFTERNOON
No trip to Corinth is complete without tasting the city’s famous dish — the slugburger. When you’re ready for lunch, stop by Borroum’s Drug Store & Soda Fountain or the Slugburger Cafe to try this iconic local delicacy. Both eateries offer a nostalgic, laid-back atmosphere along with menus of comforting favorites.
After lunch, spend the afternoon exploring Downtown Corinth and its handful of charming shops. A popular favorite is Sanctuary Antiques & Gardens. You could easily spend an hour perusing the store’s extensive selection of home decor, antiques, furniture, and artwork.
Another popular stop is Kates & Co., a home decor store located inside a beautiful historic house. As you walk up the porch steps and through the front door, you’re greeted by a colorful interior full of homewares, fashion accessories, artwork, and gifts.
Shirley Dawg’s is known for Southern-inspired clothing and accessories. It carries well-known brands like Onward Reserve, Patagonia, Southern Marsh, and Vineyard Vines. Meanwhile, Cross City Collectibles is a treasure trove of antiques, ranging from furniture to artwork, home decor, and more.
EVENING
Before dinner, visit the Corinth Coliseum to see if the historic theater is hosting any live performances. The Mississippi landmark has been around since 1923 and played host to everyone from Vaudeville stars to Grand Ole Opry performers and even Elvis Presley. Today, the theater hosts film screenings and live music, including performances from the Corinth Symphony Orchestra.
Come dinnertime, we recommend getting a table at Vicari Italian Grill to enjoy everything from fried lobster tail to duck breast and lamb chops. The restaurant also offers an extensive wine and spirits menu to pair with your dinner.
After dinner, take a quick stroll to Conservatory by Vicari to enjoy a post-dinner snack or cocktail. The open-air bar offers a variety of flatbreads, sandwiches, and salads. And don’t forget dessert! Conservatory is known for lava cake, beignets, and cheesecake.
