Over the past year, as we’ve celebrated life’s special occasions at home, it’s become apparent how important it is to give those moments some extra care and attention. That means dressing things up — making things look beautiful even if it’s only for those who live in the space. In that spirit, Mary Huddleston — aka Mrs. Southern Social — created a festive and feminine tablescape that is perfect for a special Valentine’s Day at home. It’s also easy to recreate for a special springtime affair — or just because.
“We collaborated with the lovely and talented Molly Sohr on this table, which is full of pink and floral inspiration,” says Mary. “Of course it’s ideal for February 14, but we actually love that it doesn’t scream ‘Valentine’s Day.’ It would be equally perfect for a shower, springtime celebration like Easter or Passover, or Mother’s Day.”

Mary Huddleston of the blog Mrs. Southern Social has set the stage for an elegant springtime affair.

Molly Sohr, a Nashville-based event planner and stylist, partnered with Mary to create this feminine luncheon tablescape.
The display is the perfect blend of modern and vintage, creating a look that’s both elegant and approachable at once. “The mauve-y tones are a sophisticated take on the expected blush,” explains Mary. “And we made sure to incorporate more modern pieces, such as the candlesticks and glassware, to balance the feminine details. A favorite detail is the amazing vintage punch bowl, which was a lucky find in Bell Buckle, TN — an antiquer’s heaven!”
In this design, Mary and Molly illustrate how adding timeless entertaining pieces to your collection ensures you’re prepared to create a beautiful display for nearly any type of soirée. That’s the power of versatility! Let’s take a look at this polished display, styled by Mary and Molly …

Taper candles are on-trend right now, and when paired with fabulous candlesticks, you can’t go wrong. Here, the pink candles from Mrs. Alice dance among shades of green, beige, and apricot. The candlesticks are sourced from Farmhouse Pottery, and Molly created the gorgeous floral arrangements! And get a first glimpse at the vintage punch bowl!

Rattan (also “in” right now) napkin rings from Klatso Home embrace white-lined linen napkins from Mrs. Alice. The cabbage plates are by Bordallo Pinheiro, and the bamboo flatware is by Juliska.

The glassware, by Zafferano America, features dainty dots.

How fabulous is this punch bowl? It was a lucky vintage find in Bell Buckle, TN. Filled with a fizzy, fruit-laden lemon-lime rosemary punch recipe by Southern Living, the bowl allows the beverage to shine.

Don’t forget the details! Beige place cards lined in a perfectly coordinating pink from Hester & Cook feature gold calligraphy by Nashville calligrapher Kate Fabling. The cake stands are by Williams Sonoma, and perfectly placed atop them are champagne cake bites by Caroline’s Cakes and petit fours by Southern Squares by Susan Seay.
