“What you wear is how you present yourself to the world, especially today when human contacts are so quick. Fashion is instant language.”
– Miuccia Prada

What do you want to say this spring? I always look forward to the seasons changing, but my reasons are different than most. It’s not because of the change in weather; it’s for the change in wardrobe. As the designer runways and red carpet influence the fashion landscape for the upcoming spring season, we bring you some of the top looks for spring.

We shot this at the fabulous new Graduate Nashville hotel as a regional article for StyleBlueprint. While we pulled looks from local boutiques, keep an eye out for these top trends at your city’s local retailers. From feathers and hot pants to leather and sequins, here are the top Spring 2020 trends!

8 Spring Trends & How to Wear Them

Trend: Prints

Prints that were inspired by 1960s wallpaper (aka psychedelic) were on many of the major runways. This leaf print jacket is an option that, while on-trend, is more sophisticated. It has a matching dress that brings to mind Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera when worn together. We went in another direction and incorporated another trend — tonal dressing — by pairing it over mist blue underpinnings.

Trend: Hot Pants (or Shorts)

Another trend that designers are embracing this season is hot pants. For most consumers, this will translate into shorts. A suit look with shorts is modern and fresh. A contrasting print blouse and a nod to another trend — feathers — complete the look.

Trend: White Leather

Ushering in spring with white is always a fantastic way to start the season, and doing it with leather ups your fashion game. To showcase this trend, we opted for an embossed faux leather sheath.

Trend: Black & White

We did shorts again to ground another spring staple: black and white. This time we maximized the effect by pairing a graphic top with a python print belt bag.

Trend: All White

For an after-5 p.m. look, we went back to all white. This elegant and minimal design not only showcases details like a low V-back and the crystal beading on the side that actually starts at the back, but it also showcases the wearer and allows her to shine.

Trend: Sequins

A little sparkle goes a long way. Though many designers did sequins in color, we opted to go metallic and neutral. This makes it easier to pair the look with amazing accessories.

Trend: Florals as the Main Event

We all know that Miranda Priestly mocked florals for spring as “groundbreaking.” They may not be groundbreaking, but an abstract ’60s psychedelic print is both pretty and on-trend. Florals are perfect for spring events and garden weddings!

Trend: Florals as the Accent

Here we showcase more psychedelic florals, but this time we paired a trenchcoat over a velvet jumpsuit. Always think about adding a few key pieces to what you already have to maximize your seasonal purchases, as well as your existing wardrobe.
