Summer is on its way in, bringing live music, garden tours, art fairs, and festivals across Louisville. This month is packed with local happenings that offer plenty of fun and exciting ways to make the most of the season. Take a look!
Through July 26, 2026: Wild Lights at The Louisville Zoo
Explore the magic of the Louisville Zoo during its Wild Lights festival. You can journey through four immersive themed realms — Magical Forest, Magical Ocean, Pre-Historic Animals, and Wondrous Asia — brought to life through vibrant color, larger-than-life sculptures, and intricate cultural craftsmanship. Through August 9, 2026: Kentucky Shakespeare Festival
One of Louisville’s favorite summer traditions returns as the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival takes over Central Park for its 66th season of free outdoor performances. This year’s lineup includes productions of As You Like It, Antony and Cleopatra, and The Two Gentlemen of Verona. Nightly festivities begin at 6 p.m. with food trucks, followed by kids’ activities, pre-show entertainment, and performances at 8 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. kyshakespeare.com
June 3, 2026: Day of Compassion
The Muhammad Ali Center marks the 10th anniversary of Muhammad Ali’s passing with the inaugural Day of Compassion. Beginning at 9 a.m., the event features remarks from Lonnie Ali, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg, former Mayor Greg Fischer, and Rev. Dr. Kevin Cosby, along with performances from the West End School choir. June 4 – 7, 2026: International Chamber Music Festival
The International Chamber Music Festival returns for a weekend of intimate performances. Musicians from around the world perform works by composers including Mozart, Bach, Ravel, Britten, and Dvořák during this series of concerts held at Oxmoor Farm. June 5 & 6, 2026: Portland Festival
The Portland Festival returns for its 52nd year with two days of live music, food, vendors, rides, and community celebration. Along with food trucks, local makers, carnival rides, and live entertainment, this year’s event features the new “Best of the West” Community Stage, highlighting local performers and artists. June 6, 2026: Crescent Hill Garden Tour
The Crescent Hill Garden Tour showcases private urban gardens throughout the Crescent Hill neighborhood from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Beginning at the historic Peterson-Dumesnil House, the self-guided tour features lush residential landscapes, live music, local vendors, breakfast treats, and more. While a few stops require a short drive, most of the tour is walkable — so wear your comfy shoes! June 6 & 7, 2026: Old Louisville Hidden Treasures Garden Tour
Step inside the private gardens of one of the country’s largest Victorian neighborhoods during the Old Louisville Hidden Treasures Garden Tour. In addition to the gorgeous green spaces, visitors can browse local vendors, enjoy art displays and refreshments, and add on a tour of the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum. June 6 & 7, 2026: Butchertown Art Fair
The Butchertown Art Fair returns to the historic Washington Street corridor, showcasing handcrafted work from more than 60 artists from across the region and beyond. Hosted by the Butchertown Neighborhood Association, the free juried art show has something for everyone, from the art newbie to the seasoned collector. June 12, 2026: NuLu Nights
Shop, sip, savor, and soak in the culture at this event where the NuLu neighborhood shines with live music, pop-up art activations, and exclusive in-store experiences. Retailers and local businesses stay open late and serve up NuLu Nights discounts, limited-time offers, and one-of-a-kind finds. This free event happens six times per year and is open to the public. June 13, 2026: Cuba Mia Fest Louisville
Experience the music, flavors, and energy of Latin America at Waterfront Park. This all-day cultural festival features live performances by internationally known Latin artists and DJs, along with dancing, food vendors, and immersive experiences. Guests can savor the flavors of traditional dishes and drinks from across Latin America while taking in performances including salsa, reggaeton, Latin jazz, son cubano, and more. June 13 & 14, 2026: Kilgore Home & Garden Tour
Spend the weekend exploring some of Louisville’s most beautiful private homes and gardens during the annual Kilgore Home & Garden Tour. This year’s self-guided tour features five gardens and three homes throughout Louisville and Prospect. Along the way, guests can gather landscaping inspiration, connect with master gardeners, and enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at unique outdoor spaces that are rarely open to the public. June 19, 2026: 6th Annual Juneteenth Ancestors Dream Block Party
Celebrate freedom, culture, and community at the annual Juneteenth Ancestors Dream Block Party. Hosted by MELANnaire Marketplace, this free celebration brings together Black-owned businesses, artists, creatives, live entertainment, and community organizations for an afternoon centered on culture, connection, and celebration. June 20, 2026: Afrobeats in the Gardens
This elevated outdoor experience highlights Afro-Diaspora roots through Afro-fusion cuisine, global wine pairings, live music, art installations, and interactive activities. Event highlights include Sambe Live, an Afrobeats and Amapiano tribute performance in partnership with the Louisville Academy of Music; Somm Village food and wine pairings, and the Griot Garden, featuring live painting, lawn games, and artist-led experiences. June 20, 2026: Kentuckiana Pride Festival & Parade
Celebrate Pride Month at the Great Lawn at Waterfront Park. One of the largest LGBTQ+ celebrations in Kentucky, this annual event features a downtown Louisville parade, live entertainment on multiple stages, drag performances, local food trucks, artisan vendors, family activities, and appearances by national touring artists. June 28, 2026: 5th Annual A Taste for Life
After a one-year hiatus, A Taste for Life returns to Louisville for an afternoon of food, community, and mental health awareness. Held at 3rd Turn Oldham Gardens, this event honors the life and legacy of Anthony Bourdain while raising funds for NAMI Louisville and The Pete Foundation.
