Memphians and visitors alike know to expect great live music on offer around the 901, and we can all beat the heat this summer with a cool new (free!) music series. Caption by Hyatt on South Front Street kicked off their Summer Acoustic Series very fittingly on the Summer Solstice, June 22, with a fantastic performance by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Graham Winchester. The event will continue every Thursday night for the summer, giving you another reason to head downtown.

Summertime fun time in the courtyard of Caption by Hyatt.

Held in the shady hotel courtyard, the evenings feature a different live performance from a talented local musician. You can also snag cocktails and other local refreshments from the likes of Wiseacre Brewing Co., who was onsite for the first event, showcasing a few of their new seasonal options. It’s a fun way to support the local music scene, meet new friends, and spend a relaxing evening outdoors.

The talented Graham Winchester is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who kicked off the series with a fun combination of original works and covers.

Future performers include Ariel Reign, Jeremy Stanfill, and Jad Tariq. Festivities start at 6 p.m., with performers beginning their sets at 6:30 p.m. This allows plenty of time for a downtown happy hour or a bite to eat before the music kicks off.

Some of our favorites in walking distance from the Caption include BarWare for wine and charcuterie, Catherine & Mary’s for a stellar plate of pasta, Fancy’s Fish House for a seafood fix, and Old Dominick Distillery for cocktails and spirit tastings. The Caption by Hyatt is also home to a cozy lobby restaurant, Talk Shop, which offers coffee, bites, and cocktails all day.

On the Summer Solstice kickoff, Wiseacre Brewing Co. was on hand to share a sip of some of our longtime favorites and show off a few new brews. Expect more local makers at future events!
