A Lazy Girl's #1 Tip to Beautiful Flower Arrangements - Yellow FlowersPin

I love making beautiful flower arrangements with lots of colors and textures. But, sometimes I just need pretty and I need it FAST, especially during the holidays, when there’s so much to do and my creative juices aren’t always in overdrive. This is my fallback #1 tip to ensure pretty floral arrangements for any holiday table. The look is so stylish and gorgeous that even with plenty of time and an unlimited budget, you just may follow this exact same path.

So, what is it?

Buy lots of different flowers that are all the same color. No matter how you pair them, they work. It’s easy and provides a sense of continuity when you need several arrangements across your house or table. Plus, you can use this method to shop your local grocery store’s floral department (we shopped at Kroger) and have great results.

First off, I’m showing you Pinterest examples, and then we’ll get into real-life grocery store floral options and prove just how pretty this tactic really is!

Pinterest examples (my real life arrangements to follow these professionally made ones!):

Several different types of white flowers make for a cohesive centerpiece. Mercury glass votives, white candles and rustic home accessories round out this great look. Image: Pinterest

This photo may inspire you to stop the car next time you pass a field with Queen Anne’s Lace flowers! While this isn’t all white, you see that variations of one color are gorgeous: the palest of pinks and white combine to make a foolproof arrangement! Image: Pinterest

Now, let’s look at bright and beautiful flowers. Stick in the same palette of peachy pinks, and you’ll have a stunning arrangement. Image: Pinterest

The use of orange and pumpkins is perfect for fall. Add some berries, zinnias and roses to a glass vase, with pumpkins in the water, and your beautiful one-color arrangement is ready for any gathering you have planned. Image: Pinterest
Peonies and lilacsPin
Peonies and lilacs are gorgeous together, especially when they are the same color. This just makes us wish we could smell flowers through the screen as you know these smell amazing. Image: Pinterest

Playing on this same idea of flowers in one color, check out the ones we made for a some dinner parties. One features white flowers and the other yellow.

For this Thai dinner party, all the flowers used were white. Here are some white orchids as well as floating white candles.

Different white orchids were used for this arrangement at the same Thai dinner party. But, sticking to one color brought all the different tables together for a unified look, even though each table showcased different dishes and decor.
Yellow Flowers Pin
These were yellow flowers picked up at our local Kroger. When they are all the same color, it’s easy to make a pretty arrangement!

More of the Kroger flowers … we could have added more greenery and really jazzed them up, but the point was to showcase quickly how you can add fresh flowers to your house, using several different varieties and sticking to one color palette.
One color flower arranging always works!Pin
Even a small vase with a few flowers looks sweet and perfect.

So, now you have the lazy girls #1 tip to flower arranging: just pick flowers of the same color, and you can mark one more thing of your busy seasonal to-do list!

This is such a smart and practical approach, especially during busy holiday seasons when time and energy are limited. Choosing flowers in the same color family really does create an effortless, polished look without overthinking design rules. One idea that might add even more interest is playing with different heights and vase shapes while keeping the color consistent—it adds dimension without sacrificing simplicity. I also love the grocery store tip; it makes floral styling feel accessible and budget-friendly. This method is perfect for hosting, last-minute decorating, or even everyday arrangements when you still want something elegant and cohesive.
