Today’s post is from StyleBlueprint Louisville Editor Heidi Potter:

Well the Queen has declared that it is acceptable, even fashionable, to wear flats.

No, not this Queen, for she is wearing pumps. (Can’t believe they have mud and grass on them by the way.)

I mean this Queen:

Victoria Beckham has declared that she is going to wear flats. Remember in the not too distant past, when she would saunter through Heathrow, with a purse and a fedora (and a large stuffed animal), wearing this type of shoe?

This is also the same woman who declared that “I can’t concentrate in flats.” In every picture I have ever seen of her, she is always wearing heels. I mean sky-high, platform, break-your-ankle, totally ridiculous yet, utterly beautiful heels. I always wondered what I was doing wrong that I couldn’t walk ten feet in heels successfully, where she was just parading around town in them like they were track shoes. Effortless gait. No falling. No wobbling.

From head to toe, doesn’t this just look so …comfortable. Yikes. Image credit: Bauer Griffin.

I appears as though Posh Spice’s transition to flats was doctor-ordered due to lower back problems. She’s made the most of it, even designing her own shoes with Manolo Blahnik’s help.

Here’s a pair from her Spring/Summer 2013 Collection. Definitely a nod to menswear. Or Pilgrims.

Other celebrities have jumped on the bandwagon. I have been on this wagon for years, along with legions of other ladies seeking comfort and terra firma.

I cannot imagine that you do not already own a pair of flats. But, flats can be rather, well, flat sometimes. Meaning your feet can actually hurt in flats if they do not offer any sort of support. I would recommend spending a little bit more money on a good pair of flats that you can have for years.

Allow me to introduce you to the gold standard: Lanvin. They are a small mortgage payment, but oh, so nice.
