When Lydia Brosnahan and William Sellers began planning their Nashville wedding, they weren’t searching for the newest venue or the latest trends. Instead, they built an entire wedding weekend around the locations that had already become part of their story. From Troubadour Golf & Field Club to Belle Meade Country Club, each celebration unfolded in a place filled with memories, making the weekend feel all the more meaningful. And thoughtful nods to Lydia’s late aunt, designer Kate Spade, made the celebration even more memorable! Take a look inside their unforgettable Belle Meade Country Club wedding weekend.

Lydia and William’s story began with a chance meeting in Nashville in 2021. While visiting friends from college, Lydia found herself at the Dream Hotel when a group of three guys invited them into the hotel’s private social club. “After chatting over drinks, I noticed one of the guys was on aux for the club and dancing, having the best time,” Lydia recalls. “It ended up being William.”

Their connection was instant. In fact, Lydia even recorded a video that night, joking that she had already found “her guy,” and unknowingly predicting exactly what was to come!

A long-distance relationship between Chicago and Nashville followed, and before long, William knew exactly where he wanted to ask one of life’s biggest questions. Rather than planning an elaborate proposal, he chose an intimate evening at Troubadour Golf & Field Club, one of the couple’s favorite places. After dinner, the two settled in beside an outdoor fireplace, and he popped the question.

In typical Lydia fashion, she screamed “yes” and began jumping up and down. After taking a few quiet moments to soak it all in together, the newly engaged couple was surprised by eight of their closest friends, who had been waiting to celebrate.

Dare we say that finding the perfect wedding dress took considerably longer than finding the perfect groom?

After seven rounds of shopping over three months, Lydia finally found “the one” after Rachel Apple, owner of The Bride Room, called to tell her a new Monique Lhuillier gown had just arrived.

“It took one try-on for me to say ‘yes to the dress,'” Lydia says. “It was perfect and screamed ‘Lydia’ in every way possible.”

She chose the Monique Lhuillier Vittoria gown from the Spring 2025 collection, customizing it by removing a few details and pairing it with the coordinating high-neck sleeveless jacket. Later that evening, for the reception, she slipped into a Danielle Frankel dress inspired by her late aunt, Kate Spade.

“I wanted something that I felt was very ‘Katy,'” Lydia says. “Whimsical, but sophisticated … timeless, but fun.”

Helping bring their wedding vision to life was planner and designer Amos Gott of AmosEvents. Amos had previously planned William’s brother’s wedding, but Lydia had admired his work long before they ever met.

“I really admired his work at the Nashville Symphony and Swan Ball and drew a lot of inspiration from those, as well as past weddings he had done,” Lydia says. “I knew he was well equipped to make my wedding dreams come true, and he did it beyond my expectations. Working with him was a dream!” she gushes.

Rather than reinventing each venue, Amos embraced what made them special, layering elegant florals and thoughtful design throughout the weekend while allowing every location to feel authentic to the couple.

When it came time to choose where to exchange vows, the decision was easy.

“When we decided to get married in Nashville, we knew that we wanted something that felt deeply personal and less about the buzz of the music scene and city and more about who we are at our core,” Lydia says. “We didn’t want a venue that we were only going to be at once. We wanted a venue that already held meaning for us — that felt familiar, timeless, and classic. Somewhere where we could step into it time and time again, each time feeling the magic of our night.”

Belle Meade Country Club checked every box. It had been part of William’s life since childhood, and together the couple had already filled it with birthdays, family dinners, and countless milestones before ever planning a wedding there.

The wedding weekend officially began with a welcome party overlooking Hillwood Country Club before friends and family gathered at Troubadour Golf & Field Club for a golf outing, bridesmaids luncheon, and rehearsal festivities. The evening concluded with dinner at Drusie & Darr in the historic Hermitage Hotel before guests headed to Chief’s on Broadway, where William is an investor, for a welcome party featuring a surprise performance by country artist Chase Rice.

From the very beginning, the weekend reflected exactly who Lydia and William are: relaxed, thoughtful, and happiest when surrounded by the people they love.

And then all of the parties gave way to the big day.

Aunt Kate’s influence appeared throughout the weekend, too, in ways both subtle and significant. Lydia carried one of Kate’s original pink Sam bags to the rehearsal dinner, wore two of her gold bangles, and even tucked two of Kate’s own bobby pins, discovered inside the purse, into her wedding-day bun.

The floral design became one of the weekend’s most meaningful details. Peonies, Kate’s favorite flower, filled Lydia’s bouquet and appeared throughout the ceremony and reception.

“I knew I wanted my bouquet to be filled with just peonies to honor her,” Lydia says. “Most of the bouquet displays on the tables and even around the door were centered around peonies, and then I included some of my other favorite flowers like garden roses and ranunculus.”

Lydia intentionally chose vibrant blooms throughout the celebration.

“I personally believe the flowers can really anchor the design elements of your wedding,” she says, “and I wanted them to be vibrant and ‘happy’ colors to bring that feeling around the whole wedding.”

Lydia also found meaningful ways to honor the “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” tradition. Her new Monique Lhuillier gown symbolized a fresh beginning, while her best friend’s signature perfume became her “something borrowed.” For her “something blue,” her bridesmaids spent the morning getting ready in matching blue Eberjey pajamas embroidered with Lydia’s new initials.

Before the ceremony, Lydia shared two first looks that became some of her favorite moments of the day.

Seeing her father for the first time was something she had imagined since childhood.

“I was so proud to be his daughter in that moment and know he was equally as proud of the woman I was and continue to become,” she says.

She and William also chose to see one another before walking down the aisle, allowing them to spend more time with guests later in the evening.

The couple’s beloved dog, Wrigley, also made a special appearance during portraits. “It was never a question to us if we would include Wrigley in our celebration,” Lydia says. “He has been so special to me as we have been through so many phases of life together.” Image: Bushwhacked

“The second I saw him, I was beyond emotional, but we also couldn’t stop giggling about how excited we were about our day ahead,” Lydia says. “The sense of calm that he gave me when I looked into his eyes is the feeling he has given me every day throughout our relationship that I value so much.”

Following the ceremony, a cocktail hour blended elevated cuisine with Southern comfort. Guests enjoyed champagne, Aperol spritzes, and passed hors d’oeuvres, including pimento cheese toast, mini beef Wellington, and ahi tuna tacos.

“We really wanted there to be this juxtaposition between the formality of the wedding and the casualness of a Southern classic like pimento cheese toast,” Lydia says.

Dinner featured filet mignon, mountain roasted chicken, and vegetarian risotto before everyone danced the night away to the Atlanta Allstars. As the evening continued, Belle Meade favorites, including grilled cheese sandwiches, cheeseburgers, warm chocolate chip cookies, and the club’s famous Ed’s Special boozy milkshakes, made a late-night appearance.

One of the weekend’s biggest surprises came courtesy of music artist Chase Rice, who not only performed during the welcome celebration but also documented candid moments throughout the weekend on film.

“One of the most memorable moments from our night was at the end of the wedding when William and I got on stage for the final two songs and got to see all of our most loved people in one room singing, dancing, and celebrating us to end the night,” Lydia says. “We have watched the moment over and over again since that night. There is something so special about seeing your favorite people so excited for us and celebrating us in one room. A moment we will never forget.”

After a rooftop after-party at Chief’s on Broadway, Lydia and William escaped for a mini-moon at The Breakers in Palm Beach before later celebrating with a honeymoon along Italy’s Amalfi Coast.

By choosing places that had already shaped so many chapters of their lives, Lydia and William ensured their wedding weekend wouldn’t simply become another beautiful memory. Instead, every return to those familiar Nashville spots will remind them where their next chapter began.

Congratulations to Lydia and William, and thank you for sharing your beautiful celebration with us!
