What can $50 do? At Always Bev, it can help save a life.

Founded in 2018 by Barb Jordan, Always Bev is a nonprofit organization with a singular mission: to prevent predatory violence through education and empowerment. It was created in honor of Barb’s sister, Beverly, whose life was tragically cut short by her fiancé in a calculated act of gun violence. After his release from prison more than 30 years later, Barb knew she had to take action — and her life’s most important work began.

Today, Always Bev delivers personal safety education to individuals across the country, primarily women, though its training applies to all. From universities and corporations to Girl Scout troops and athletic teams, Barb’s message resonates deeply. Her courses are described as “life-changing” and are filled with powerful, practical instruction.

Barb Jordan is impressive. Not only is she a nationally recognized expert in safety, but she was also a highly decorated athlete, coach, and broadcaster for over two decades. She’s certified in active shooter training and trained in Krav Maga. She connects with audiences, and her mission to keep women safe is one we can all support. Image: Always Bev

Each session teaches attendees how to:

  • Recognize charm and manipulation
  • Spot relationship red flags
  • Use strong body language and voice
  • Respond to threats, including those involving weapons
  • Understand the connection between alcohol and violence
  • Trust and act on intuition before danger escalates
  • And yes, attendees also learn self-defense techniques designed for real-life situations.

THE FACTS: 54% OF SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS are between 18 and 34 years old. ONE IN THREE WOMEN has experienced some sort of violence by an intimate partner. 80% OF SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS know the attacker. MOST INTIMATE PARTNER HOMICIDES are committed with firearms. NEARLY SIX MILLION WOMEN have reported having a gun used on them. Image: Always Bev

Barb’s style is uniquely effective. As a three-time national softball champion, seven-time gold medalist, broadcaster, coach, and Krav Maga practitioner, she knows how to teach and inspire. She’s also trained in active shooter response. But it’s her personal story and unwavering determination to turn tragedy into purpose that leave the deepest marks.

So, where does your $50 go?

A $50 donation helps cover the cost of travel to speaking engagements that potentially save lives. That means it puts Barb on a plane or in a car to reach women who might otherwise never hear her life-saving message. Whether it’s a university in Georgia, a high school in New York, a nonprofit in Iowa, or an event right here in Nashville, Always Bev goes wherever the need exists.

As Barb says, “We can’t eliminate predatory behavior, but we can greatly reduce the opportunity for it.”

Your donation — whether $50 or $150 — helps ensure this vital mission continues. You’re not just giving money. You’re giving knowledge, confidence, and the power for women to say and know, “I see the signs. I trust my intuition. And I will protect myself.”

Thank you for donating today!
