Compagnie Dyptik’s Le Grand Bal

Fueled by breathtaking intensity and stunning theatricality, the award-winning performance Le Grand Bal has become one of the most talked-about dance-theater events in recent years. Nine astounding performers enter a glorious and frenetic trance, experiencing a transformative release from the pressures of turbulent times. Described as a dance of “revolt and ecstasy,” this electrifying work blends Hip-hop, breakdance, and contemporary movement with Arabic influences. Inspired by a legendary “dance fever” said to have gripped 16th-century Luxembourg, the frenzy sweeps across the ensemble as a metaphor for collective catharsis. Co-choreographers Souhail Marchiche and Mehdi Meghari, based in Saint-Étienne, bring their boundary-pushing vision to Nashville for three unforgettable performances.
