We’re so excited to welcome November’s chilly temperatures, beautiful colors and of course, delicious, festive food. Make this month your most fashionable yet, with gorgeous looks from local boutiques Nations, Manhattan South and Shop Bijou BHM for three highly anticipated upcoming events: The Vulcans Community Awards, Market Noel weekend and the 2019 Moonstone Festival. Mathew’s Manor, a gorgeous event venue in Birmingham, serves as the beautiful fall backdrop for these fabulous looks.
Today’s models are two representatives from the Junior League of Birmingham (JLB). Becky Holt serves as the President of the JLB, leading the organization’s more than 2,300 members, overseeing all the organization’s events throughout the year, and working tirelessly to ensure the success of each fundraiser. Haley Scallions is the JLB’s Market Noel Chair, a role in which she organizes this premiere Birmingham holiday shopping experience. This annual event takes place at the end of November and brings together more than 100 premium vendors from across the country for a retail extravaganza. We’re honored to feature two women who love to serve our amazing community so much!
Now, let’s get to styling.
The Event: The Vulcans Community Awards
- November 7, 2019
- Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m.
- Individual tickets are $115
- The Club
- For more information, visit visitvulcan.com.
The Vulcans Community Awards sixth annual dinner recognizes Birmingham citizens who exemplify civic pride, leadership and progress, qualities that Vulcan has symbolized for more than 100 years. Five outstanding citizens will receive “The Vulcan” award for community commitment or initiatives that have had a significant impact on the Magic City. There will also be one Lifetime Achievement Award.
What to wear: A beautiful evening of celebration calls for a touch of glam. Usually, when we think about attire for a sit-down dinner, we think cocktail dresses. While a classic LBD is undoubtedly a fantastic option for this event, don’t be afraid to spice it up a bit with a funky two-piece outfit paired with a bold pair of earrings. For this event, we also love a flowy maxi dress that we can easily dress up or down.

Festival fever? The 2019 Moonstone Festival has you covered. Support the fabulous femmes in the music and art industries at the first-ever Moonstone Festival at Sloss Docks. Enjoy great tunes and local food, as well as drink and art vendors at this fierce fest. The line up includes the talents of Rose of the West, Aria Taylor, Bully and many more. It is the perfect event for a girls’ day out!
What to wear: With the cool temperatures at this outdoor event, you can’t go wrong with a warm and fashionable poncho or jacket. A music festival is the perfect opportunity to break out your favorite graphic t-shirt and statement accessories. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and mix in a fashionable fall favorite: animal print. Whichever style you prefer, remember to keep comfort in mind.

Market Noel showcases more than 100 regional and national vendors, featuring fashion, home decor, jewelry, holiday items, children’s clothes, gourmet food, art and more. The profit from all ticket sales helps fund the Junior League of Birmingham’s community projects, including Backpack Buddies, Mobile Food Pantry, JLB Second Servings and Meals on Wheels, all of which provide food to children, families, homeless teens and the elderly.
What to wear: Staying comfortable and being casual is key for a weekend full of holiday shopping. Opt for layers that you can remove if you get warm while visiting vendors around the Finley Center. We love pairing a comfy and chic sweatshirt with effortlessly fashionable pants. If you plan on attending the Cheers & Beers tasting prior to the market, we suggest a sparkly, fun outfit to fit the celebratory occasion. Now, shop ’til you drop!
