Ladies and gentlemen, you’re five days shy of making it out of May alive. Today we want to help you celebrate the end of this most stressful month and the beginning of a more relaxed summer schedule. So let’s talk about what you want to do with your family this June.
There are ample opportunities across town to get the whole gang outside and unplugged. For the musically inclined, Musician’s Corner returns to Centennial Park for its seventh consecutive summer with an impressive lineup to boot, and you’ll want to mark your calendar for the next full moon as Pickin’ Party season at Warner Parks is now in full swing. If you want your kiddos to have more in their dancing repertoire than the bump and grind, Big Band Dance Saturday nights are a must. And if at the end of a June day you really just need to simultaneously relax and entertain your kids, Movies in the Park and Zoovie Night provide ideal opportunities to sit still while also getting out of the house.
These nights are family friendly and all kinds of fun, but let’s not kid ourselves — they’re also hot and sweaty and sticky. Whether you’re headed to a neighborhood barbecue, an upcoming vacation or a night out in Nashville with the fam, we think it’s safe to say easy, breezy summer style is a must. Today’s looks are just that – perfectly polished but relaxed enough that they won’t have you breaking a sweat. Our model is Skin Pharm owner Maegan Griffin, who posed along with some fun friends at Nashville Zoo at Grassmere. Enjoy, and stay cool!
From Pieces: Gentle Fawn striped blouse, $72; On the Road tie-waisted skirt, $68; feather necklace, $21

We couldn’t resist some extra shots of our new furry friends at Nashville Zoo at Grassmere!

Hard to say if Maegan or the flamingo has longer legs!!
While all today’s looks definitely fall into the easy-breezy summer-style category, we wanted to find some outfits that could double for date night. You could certainly still chase the kiddos around outside in these numbers, but they are probably more fun for twirling or grooving with your favorite guy!
From Pieces: Issy & Lola dress, $82; arrowhead bracelet, $32
We’re big fans of this beaded bracelet from Pieces.
From SVM Boutique: Wish List dress, $44; geode necklace, $30

Love this take on the tassel earring trend — still a statement piece but significantly lighter than other styles!
A look behind the scenes …
Our fabulous wardrobe consultant Rebecca Thompson pulled today’s looks from Pieces Boutique, the new SVM Boutique in The Gulch and Habit. Emily May of Cosmetic Market provided Maegan’s makeup for the shoot, and we shot on location at the bustling Nashville Zoo at Grassmere.
Emily puts the finishing touches on Maegan’s makeup. The gals at Cosmetic Market are so talented and generous with their time — we love working with them!

We might have (spider) monkeyed around a little …
But after a day at the zoo, how could we not??
A huge thank you to Jim Bartoo at the Nashville Zoo, who graciously carted us around all day, deftly navigating the throngs of school groups and families!
Special thanks to the lovely mama-to-be Maegan Griffin for being our model and to Rebecca Thompson for styling the shoot. And of course, thank you to Leila Grossman of Grannis Photography for the beautiful photos!
