July in Nashville promises patriotism, unbelievably hot weather and more not-to-miss local events. From July 4th on, this month is packed with noteworthy activities. With all of these exciting happenings in mind, we gathered some style inspiration to keep you on trend and ready to take on the heat. Our friends at The Cosmetic Market assembled some fresh and fun beauty looks, while Meredith Mathis styled the latest arrivals from local boutiques to showcase the best in summer fashion.
Wearing makeup in the summer heat may seem like a hassle, but makeup expert Emily May of The Cosmetic Market encourages simplicity. She says, “In the summer, I think less is more. I love water-based foundations for their lightweight feel and natural coverage, and bronzed cheeks give a sun-kissed glow without the sun exposure. It’s a win-win.” Modeled by Allison Duke Budslick and Jesse Harbison of the “Mirror Mirror” podcast, these styled looks will be some of your new go-to styles and makeup looks for all of your summer outings!
The Event: Fourth of July in Nashville
- July 4, 2017
- Casual attire
Fourth of July in Nashville boasts a handful of star-spangled celebrations: Rooftop Bash at 21c Museum Hotel Nashville, 4th of July at Acme, the Annual Music City Hot Chicken Festival and Music City 4th of July. Embrace your patriotic self and slip into something red, white and blue in the form of clothing, accessories and makeup. Don’t be afraid to go bolder in your lip color if you are wearing something simple, but if you are donning all the colors of the American flag, opt for more neutral colors in your makeup.

The Event: Mafiaoza’s Music City Brewer’s Festival
- July 29, 2017
- Attire calls for elevated casual

Held outside, Mafiaoza’s Music City Brewer’s Festival calls for casual attire, kicked up a notch. During the day session, you are sure to see folks wearing as little as possible to beat the heat. For the evening session, the sun will be setting and the outfits will be a bit more focused on fashion rather than function. For a quick makeup transition, Emily suggests applying a fun shade of lipstick to easily take the look from day to night.
