The holidays are quickly approaching, along with events galore. Whether you’re in need of an outfit for a family gathering, dinner with friends or a charity event during this season of giving, we have you covered. We have fabulous style solutions for three awesome upcoming events: Downtown Dining Week, Red Boa Ball at Memphis Botanic Garden and Taste of Hope at the Children’s Museum.
November’s edition of What to Wear features the staff of Memphis Botanic Garden at their beautiful facility, where fabulous fall colors, fountains and greenery perfectly framed these fall looks. Our models rocked gorgeous garments from Dazzle, Coming Attractions, Mednikow, Oak Hall and Mozelle Boutique.
The Event: Downtown Dining Week
- November 5-11, 2018
- $20.18 for three-course dinners and special menus; $10.18 for two-for-one lunches and special lunch menus
- For more information visit, downtowndiningweek.com.
Save your appetites for Downtown Dining Week, a week-long event packed with special menus, extra courses, two-for-one deals and so much more. With more than 40 restaurants participating, this is a great way to taste new flavors of Memphis. Reservations are recommended for many of the participating locations, so get on it!
What to wear: This is more of a casual occasion, so we say throw on your favorite pair of jeans, pick out some boots along with a fun, chunky sweater, and you are ready to roll!

The ninth annual Red Boa Ball at the Memphis Botanic Garden is an event that features a cocktail reception, seated dinner, dancing, live and silent auctions and a jewelry pull provided by James Gattas Jewelers. To top it all off, this event also supports services provided by your American Red Cross of the Mid-South. So grab your dancing heels and throw on your best dress for a night of fun!
What to wear: This is a dressy occasion, so we recommend wearing your favorite LBD or cocktail gown. Men can either dress in a black suit, slacks or even a nice sports coat. Don’t forget your red boa!

Taste of Hope is the American Cancer Society’s signature culinary, wine and spirits event, featuring some of Memphis’s most popular restaurants and beverage vendors. Guests can enjoy a walkabout, tasting signature bites and sips, while also enjoying an exciting silent auction and other entertainment. Celebrate the evening at The Children’s Museum while supporting a great cause.
What to wear: This event is slightly more laid-back than little black dress attire. Let’s call it creative cocktail. We would recommend a dress with a pair of wedges or booties, and maybe even some statement jewelry.
