Theatre Memphis

This community theatre has been entertaining Memphis audiences for over 100 years! A nonprofit 501(c)(3), it began in 1920, held its first production in 1921, and was officially incorporated as The Little Theatre Players Association of Memphis on January 17, 1922.
Today, the theatre relies on up to 750 volunteers annually for everything from acting and backstage crew work to ushering and building sets and costumes. Its two performance spaces include the Lohrey Theatre, a 400+ seat proscenium stage, and The Next Stage, an intimate black box theatre that seats up to 100.
Something Rotten!
- Runs from August 15 – September 7, 2025, at the Lohrey Theatre
- Set in 1590s England, Something Rotten! follows struggling playwrights Nick and Nigel Bottom as they try to outshine Shakespeare by creating the world’s first musical. This fast-paced comedy is packed with clever wordplay, over-the-top characters, and tons of fun.

The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940

- This fast-paced comedic mystery pokes fun at classic Hollywood thrillers with over-the-top satire and nonstop laughs. As the “Stage Door Slasher” strikes repeatedly, a group trapped by a blizzard must navigate secret passageways, masked figures, and mounting suspicion to solve the mystery.
The Thanksgiving Play

Hattiloo Theatre

In 2006, Ekundayo Bandele decided to name his new theatre after his two daughters, merging their names to form “Hattiloo.” It opened its doors on September 22 in Memphis’s Edge District, and it grew fast over the next eight years. By 2014, the theatre had wrapped up a $4.3 million capital campaign, moved into a beautiful new, debt-free home, and even built a $500,000 endowment. Two years later, another campaign brought a brand-new Development Center and transformed a former school into the Hattiloo Technical Theatre Center.
In 2017, Hattiloo added the HattiHouse — a welcoming residence for guest artists and interns. Today, it stands as the only freestanding Black repertory theatre in five surrounding states, celebrated for its top-tier, free programming and performances that pop up all over Memphis.
Jubilee

New Day Children’s Theatre is a creative space where young people grow, discover, and shine.
