By this point in August, it’s inevitable that rosé has stolen our summer hearts and this season’s wine cellars. The “yes way rosé” mantra has captured social media, restaurant and patio concentrations (mine included). We simply couldn’t say farewell to the season without throwing a wine-tasting party with the girls — thus, the rise in rosé’s popularity not only prompted our party’s culinary palate, but also every other detail, as well.
THE TABLESCAPE
Rosé’s copper undertones sparked a sophisticated, modern-dining style. Antique copper trivets and a candelabra set the stage for six to eight centerpiece rosé bottles of different shades and sizes. A blush salt cellar is set out to hold any last-minute guest appetizer spreads. Collected wine corks sprinkled across the tablescape illustrate this dinner party’s ultimate focus.
When it comes to place settings, keep it simple. A plate, linen napkin and vintage flatware illustrate laid-back luxury. Crystal wine glasses add a touch of elegance to the rosé samplings at hand.
THE FLORALS
To nod to the “rose” flower — without harnessing its traditional hue — stud the table with white fully bloomed stems. No need to use large vases; grab a stack of copper tumblers from your cabinet and drop two or three blooms in each.
THE FOOD
A rosé-inspired soirée would not be complete without blush-toned bites. Ensure the menu is bright and fresh; and if possible, stick to dishes that can be served chilled or at room temperature. Pre-plate a super-easy summer salad — such as peppery arugula with crisp pink watermelon and feta — at each white place setting.
Then, arrange a family-style charcuterie board with blush prosciutto, soppressata and a mix of hard and soft white-toned nutty cheeses (goat cheese, brie and parmigiano reggiano are my favorite combination). An heirloom tart with fresh ricotta, basil and pink peppercorns spotlights vivid in-season tomatoes.
THE WINE
For this party, we’re pouring the following wines. The pink and copper hues were undeniably festive for the affair.
