We are so close to cooler temps that we can smell the cinnamon and pumpkin spice in the air! However, Southern weather keeps us on our toes. That’s why we’ve curated six fall looks that are ideal for transition weather and showcase some of this season’s hottest trends. This month’s looks are styled by Southern Muse at the gorgeous Propcellar.

FALL LOOK: YELLOW STATEMENT PIECES

Rumor has it yellow will be the biggest color trend of the season, and we are here for it. Whether you prefer a chunky sweater, cozy scarf or comfy-chic leggings, these pieces give the summery shade a fall makeover.

Where to wear it:

Attend the Taste of Cooper-Young, an event that gives back, on October 17. Ticket holders for Taste of Cooper-Young can enjoy food from each of the participating restaurants, access to the silent auction and the opportunity to enjoy live music. There will also be Memphis-made beer and wine for purchase. Tickets are $50 and the event is from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Cooper Street.

You can also come take a walk through downtown Memphis’ iconic Beale Street. Peruse paintings, sculptures and more from local Memphis artists, as well as others from the Mid-South, for the Beale Street Art Crawl on October 19.

We aren’t sure what we love more: the white buttons on this sweater or the detailed stripes on these leggings!

FALL LOOK: CHEETAH SWEATER

Animal print is the new neutral. Pair your print of choice with dark denim for a sophisticated yet edgy style. In terms of footwear, you can opt for heels, and since it’s technically already fall, you can also bring out the booties!

Where to wear it:

Take a break and “un-wined” on Thursday, October 3, at Unwind for Hope, an event benefitting Hope House. The nonprofit serves women and children affected by HIV and poverty in the Memphis Area. Sip on wine, snack on hors d’oeuvres, and enjoy an art sale featuring local female artists. The event is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hope House.

Or, if beer is more your style, the 10th Annual Cooper-Young Beerfest on October 19 is your perfect opportunity to sample those beers you’ve been curious about. At Cooper-Young Beerfest, celebrate the hardworking local brewers who devote their time, talent and energy to making beers that are uniquely their own. The festival is regional, meaning you can visit any of the brewers who are located within a day’s drive from Cooper-Young. The event will raise money for the Cooper-Young Community Association (CYCA), which keeps the neighborhood clean, friendly, safe and welcoming for everyone.

FALL LOOK: COLOR

If you’re considering a step in the daring direction, we challenge you to buy a pop of color and pair it with some printed jeans or bottoms. If you’re looking for your next girl’s night out outfit, all you need to do is throw on some heels, booties or even some flats to complete the look.

Where to wear it:

One of the biggest food and wine celebrations, the Memphis Food & Wine Festival is happening on October 12 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. This local favorite is a way of showcasing our local chef talent along with regional, national, and international chefs. The festival will return to the Live Garden at Memphis Botanic Garden. As this is a central location in East Memphis, parking and accessibility is simple. This event, presented by FedEx, will continue to benefit the FedExFamilyHouse, which offers housing for out-of-town families with children receiving treatment at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
Or, if you’d like to spend some time with nature this fall, enjoy the beauty of Shelby Farms while listening to some of the hottest names in the music industry at the Mempho Music Festival on October 19 and 20. Artists including Brandi Carlile, The Revivalists, Margo Price and others will grace the stage. Festival gates will open one hour before showtime and close at the end of the final performance.

Where to wear it:

Edible Memphis and The Central Gardens Association have partnered up to host a farm-to-table experience called “Dinner in the Gardens” taking place October 19 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. There will be one long dinner table along Belvedere, between Peabody and Glenwood Place, to be seated. Local chefs, Old Dominick cocktails, beer and wine will complete the meal.

This look also works well for those wanting to gather on the Dixon Gallery and Garden’s South Lawn on October 19 for Art on Fire. This is a festive fall party with bonfires, food, live music, ‘Hot Off the Wall’ art sale, a silent auction and so much more. Art on Fire is a large fundraising bonfire party that directly supports the Dixon’s education outreach programs.
