What inspired your design careers, and what inspired you to start a design firm together?

Amy: We are sisters! Our mom taught us the value of thoughtful design and instilled in us the belief that a beautiful home is within reach for everyone. Our journey into the homebuilding and design world started with a drive to learn everything we could. We landed jobs in the home building industry and soaked up knowledge, learning from architects, residential developers, and vendors.

Katie: This hands-on experience was invaluable, giving us a behind-the-scenes look at how homes are created from the ground up. We had the chance to start revamping model homes and quickly began understanding the cohesive design with what worked and what didn’t.

Two families saw our work and trusted us to guide them through their own homebuilding process. These first clients allowed us to prove ourselves and build something meaningful, and we owe so much to them. Their trust marked the beginning of our journey as designers dedicated to creating homes that tell a story and reflect the lives within them.

How would you describe your aesthetic?

Amy: Our aesthetic is based on life-friendly design; we are most inspired by finishes that evolve and tell a story over time. Natural materials bring us joy — if it comes from the earth, we are eager to incorporate it.

Katie: Our style is a seamless blend of traditional elegance and modern transitional charm.

What is your favorite space or design element in your own home, and why?

Amy: My favorite spot is the breakfast room, where vintage cantilevered rattan chairs (thanks to Katie’s keen eye) gather around a marble table beneath a bold statement chandelier. We share so many laughs and stories in this bright, cozy corner, and seeing everyone come together there fills me with so much joy.

Katie: One of my favorite features of my home is the outdoor stone fireplace. Stone is such a timeless element — it brings a sense of warmth, history, and authenticity that I’ve always loved.

Another standout element is the two-story window that floods our entire living space with natural light. The kids and I often find ourselves on the stairs, gazing out at the neighborhood, soaking in those bright rays. It’s a little moment that reminds me how good design can spark connection and create memories in the simplest of places.

If you could collaborate with anyone in the world — another designer or a dream client —who would it be?

Amy: We listen to Chris Stapleton on repeat — at the office, at home — and we joke that we’re practically neighbors since we vacation near his place on 30A.

Katie: The best part is that I have twins, too, so we already feel like we have something in common with Chris and Morgane. Who knows? Maybe one day, our paths will cross, and we can swap twin stories in person!

Name three home decor elements you can’t live without.

Amy: Art with meaning. Whether it’s a vintage piece found on a trip, a family heirloom, or something created by a local artist, art adds soul to a space and tells a story that resonates deeply.

Katie: Textiles. From cozy furniture fabrics to antique rugs, textiles add warmth, texture, and a layer of comfort that makes a house feel like home.

Amy: Can lighting be a passion? If so, it’s a passion of mine! A stunning light fixture can transform a space, acting as both a functional piece and a striking design element that ties the room together. It’s like adding statement jewelry to any fabulous outfit.

Where do you take chances in design?

Katie: We love to take chances with bold color choices, unique materials, and unexpected styling moments — especially in areas like statement powder rooms, vibrant tile patterns, or dramatic lighting.

Amy: Pushing boundaries in contained spaces like a powder bath allows our clients to experience the thrill of daring design without overwhelming the entire home.

Katie: We’re loving the shift toward warmer color palettes and layered textures — they add depth, warmth, and personality in such a fresh way.

Amy: Viola marble is also having a moment, bringing a rich, luxurious touch that feels timeless. And we can’t get enough of statement lighting that blends art and function. As for the enduring side of design, we always come back to high-quality craftsmanship, classic silhouettes, and meaningful pieces that stand the test of time. Those elements never go out of style.

What’s the easiest way to elevate our homes in a hurry?

Amy: One of the quickest ways to elevate your home is by updating the lighting. We love playing with shape and mixing metals — hand-rubbed brass, plaster, iron, and antiqued nickel — to create depth and character.

Katie: Drapery. Well-chosen drapes not only frame a view but also soften a space and add that polished finishing touch. It’s all about layering thoughtful updates that make your home feel inviting and uniquely you.

Can you describe your design philosophy in five words?

Katie: Intentional Design for Everyday Life (our tagline!)

Amy: Livable, meaningful, bold, timeless, intentional
