What to Wear: February Events in Nashville
From trendy activewear to glamorous Valentine's looks, February events run the gamut. Check out what we're wearing!
While the glimmer of a New Year often fades with the passing days of January and the fact that this coming month sees the smallest real estate on the 2019 calendar, February is not to be forgotten. We are looking to make the most of all the 28 days — we’ve got the 2019 Antiques & Garden Show of Nashville, Valentine’s Day and the Allstate Hot Chocolate 15K/5K to help us do so. As if we weren’t already thrilled about this lineup, we used What to Wear as just another excuse to eagerly prep for all that February in Nashville has for us!
We consulted our friend and expert stylist Cynthia Kelley to pull together adorable pieces from Oak Hall, e.Allen Boutique, Longevity Boutique and Fleet Feet Nashville to create appropriate and fabulous outfits for this month’s calendar. Style blogger Jasmine Sweet and her two pals, Jordyn Diebler and Hannah Disterdick, served as our radiant models, while Private Edition‘s lovely makeup expert Leslie Moore provided the three ladies with glowing looks that could transition from the outdoor trails to the candlelit table. Since we first visited Royal Circus last fall, we’ve been eagerly planning our chance to shoot a What to Wear photoshoot at the Wedgewood-Houston home store. The striking turquoise door invites you in, and the endless supply of beautiful interior gems welcomes you to stay. Enjoy this month’s What to Wear!

One of the most highly anticipated weekends in Nashville is finally here, and you better believe we’ve been waiting! The 2019 Antiques & Garden Show, benefitting Cheekwood and ECON Charities, will be held the first weekend in February for the 29th year. This year’s theme, “A Passion for Home,” is set to feature incredible antique finds, horticultural items and an incredible lineup of speakers including Faith Hill, Ray Booth, Bobby McAlpine, Leslie Rascoe and more. Kick off the weekend at the Bourbon Party on Friday for an entire evening of bourbon sips, delicious fare and live music that is sure to have you hitting the dance floor. Check out the schedule of events and don’t miss this beautiful Southern event!
At Friday’s Bourbon Party, look for your “Nashville cocktail-casual” attire in preparation for a festive evening soirée. An LBD and fun shoes are the perfect solution. Or if you’re looking to add some color, look to a chic mini (we’re loving the olive green color right now) with some knee-high boots. Though the show’s daytime activities are casual, you can still experiment with a new look. Pair some frayed cropped jeans with a patterned bootie or a great bag, and you’re even ready for wherever your dinner plans may take you!

The Event: Valentine’s Day
- February 14, 2019
- Casual to cocktail attire
Whether you eagerly await it or wishfully avoid it, Valentine’s Day is a noteworthy February event in our book. Spend the holiday with your significant other or your gal pals, and don’t be afraid to get creative with your plans. Lucky for us, Nashville boasts plenty of opportunities to venture out, order in or see something new. From cooking at home to making reservations downtown, now is the time to find something festive and fun to make you say “you’re the one” … even if you’re just talking to one great dress.
As much as we’d like to whip out that perfect pink sleeveless top or flirty sundress, February still reminds us to conservatively dress for some cold temperatures. Even though we highly recommend that you bundle up, you don’t have to abandon your mission to don something new, bright and festive! If you’re unsure about your plans, we love the thought of playing with different lengths. From a mini with high boots to a midi with booties, you’re sure to be well-suited for any kind of Valentine’s plans. If your forecasted date is a galentine’s gathering with a movie, we still say that you deserve a new ensemble to brighten up the gloomy February weather!

The Event: Allstate Hot Chocolate 15K/5K
- February 16, 2019
- Athletic attire
- Bicentennial Mall State Park
- 7 a.m.
- Registration: 5K, $49; 15K, $69; Register here.
Just because it’s February doesn’t mean that those New Year’s fitness resolutions have to waver. But if we’re going to willingly submit ourselves to exercise in the outdoors this winter, you better believe there is a sweet treat waiting for us on the other side. Grab your family, your friends and your layers, and head out to the Allstate Hot Chocolate 15K/5K race! The fun yet somewhat frigid event will take you through the sites of Nashville and reward your efforts with a rich, melty cup of hot cocoa at the end. If you need some encouragement during the race, you can also snack on marshmallows and chocolate chips offered at various stations along the route.
Although this event doesn’t require your latest party dress, we still know it’s essential to properly prep in the finest fitness that fashion has to offer. We took to East Nashville and the newly opened Germantown location of Longevity Boutique for the cutest activewear essentials. When it comes to pulling together an ensemble suitable for running, don’t be afraid to adventure with color, fun cropped lengths and of course, lots of suitable and soft layers. Before you head out to tackle the cold and the course, make sure you are well-equipped with the perfect shoes. We wisely turned to our active friends at Fleet Feet Nashville for their advice in suitable running kicks. Visit the knowledgeable staff at any one of their three Nashville-area locations to ensure you’re properly fitted and ready to race!
