Wealth of a Woman marks its first anniversary this week, celebrating a year of helping women in more than 20 countries feel confident and capable when it comes to managing their money. Founded by Teresa J.W. Bailey and Lauren Reed Williams, Wealth of a Woman combines financial literacy, community engagement, and storytelling to spark open and honest conversations about money and self-worth.
“This work is about so much more than money.”
“We launched Wealth of a Woman to rewrite the narrative,” says Lauren. “When women are financially empowered, families, businesses, and communities thrive, and this past year has been a testament to that.”
Launched exactly 50 years after the passage of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) — the landmark legislation granting women the right to access credit independently — Wealth of a Woman honors how far women have come, while acknowledging how much work remains to achieve true financial equity.
“This work is about so much more than money,” adds Teresa. “It’s about giving women the knowledge and confidence to create lives of purpose, peace, and possibility.”
Teresa, also the co-founder of Cairrus, equips financial advisors with frameworks that inspire women to pursue financial flourishing with purpose and intention. Lauren, an entrepreneur and owner of the PR and marketing agency REED, brings her expertise in brand storytelling and community building to help women everywhere rewrite their stories about money.
The First-Ever Luminary Award
As part of the anniversary celebration, Wealth of a Woman proudly presented the first-ever Luminary Award to Caitlin Costello, founder of personal styling firm Affiner.
The award recognizes Caitlin as an extraordinary supporter who embodies the values and spirit of the movement. After earning her degree in fashion retailing from the University of Alabama, Caitlin moved to New York, where she launched her career with several top designers. Noticing a gap in the market, she founded Affiner, a brand dedicated to helping clients feel like their best selves, styling everything from everyday wear to special occasion outfits.

Explosive Growth
Over the past year, Wealth of a Woman has expanded its reach and deepened its impact through:
- The launch of a new website and online course, helping women build healthier relationships with money.
- The “Dinner Party” campaign is a national storytelling movement that encourages women to have the conversations their grandmothers couldn’t.
- Guided meditations and mindfulness practices connecting financial wellness with emotional well-being.
- Community and networking events that bring women together for meaningful connection and dialogue.
- Recognition as a TEDxNashville Community Ally, celebrating Wealth of a Woman’s commitment to empowering women through education and storytelling.
The organization’s mission has reached audiences in over 20 countries, with speaking engagements ranging from the Global Women’s Summit for the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) in Montreal to corporate retreats in Connecticut and the NAWBO Annual Conference in Nashville.
Academic and Industry Recognition
Earlier this year, the University of Pennsylvania awarded Teresa and her Cairrus colleague and MAPP classmate A.J. (Amy) Scupham the designation of “Distinguished Capstone,” recognizing their work surrounding women and money as a novel contribution to the field of positive psychology.
Teresa’s research and leadership continue to challenge traditional industry norms and inspire a new generation of female financial leaders, setting benchmarks for advancement and equity across the financial landscape.
Locally, Wealth of a Woman has been featured on the front page of Nashville Business Journal, participated in multiple podcast opportunities, and has received national media recognition for its innovative approach to financial empowerment.
Looking Ahead
As Wealth of a Woman enters its second year, Teresa and Lauren are setting their sights on even greater impact as they continue to reach women through storytelling, education, and community initiatives that inspire financial confidence and freedom.
