Know Before You Go
- Every farm is different, and available flowers vary. July usually marks peak picking for zinnias, cosmos, and other colorful annuals. Sunflowers spring tall in August, and dahlias tend to peek their pretty heads out in September. If youβre looking for something specific, check with the farm before you head out β but we suggest letting the blooms be your guide.
- If you know anything about Louisville summers, youβre well aware that midday brings the heat. Aim for U-pick visits in the early morning, when flowers are freshest, temperatures are cooler, and itβs likely to be less crowded. Or visit during golden hour, about an hour or two before sunset, for soft, warm lighting thatβs perfect for pictures.
- Most farms require reservations, so be sure to book ahead if necessary. We also recommend checking whether clippers, containers, and other supplies are provided or if you need to bring your own.
Happy picking, Louisville!
