Aockquee Burgess recently opened The Ladies Room Boutique on Bardstown Road after three years of careful planning. She left her job working at AT&T and made the leap into owning her own small business. Her boutique is meticulous and well curated: every detail has been planned and every piece of clothing has been touched with her careful eye.
What do you do for a living?
Entrepreneur and business owner of The Ladies Room Boutique.
When did you discover that you have a talent for fashion?
I discovered that had talent forΒ fashion when I was a young girl in high school.
How do you balance your job and your personal life?
I donβt have a personal life. Itβs all aboutΒ my business at the moment.
What is the biggest life lesson you have ever learned?
Follow your dreams and intuition.
Who is your mentor?
My grandmother is my mentor; watching her has made me strong,Β independent, and self sufficient. She taught me if you want anything in life you have to get itΒ yourself. Nobody is going to do anything for you.
What is best advice you have received in business?
Success doesnβt happen overnight, beΒ patient, and never get comfortable.
If you were not in your current job, what would you secretly love to do?
Be a fashion designer.
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
Iβm really shy.
What is your favorite place to go eat?
Sapparro in the Highlands.
Where do you like to shop?
Boutiques out of town.
What is a treat or a luxury you do for yourself?
Getting my hair done, pedicure and massage.
What is your weakness?
HΓ€agen-Dazs Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream.
What is your favorite thing to do in Louisville?
Try new restaurants.
Three things you cannot live without (besides God, family and friends):
Makeup, the gym andΒ music.
What are you reading right now?
Currently nothing at the moment. Donβt have the time.

My customers, lookingΒ for unique fashion, and traveling.
