Outdoor movie nights are back, and there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy al fresco flicks around Louisville this season. From classic drive-in theaters to parks, waterfronts, and even the zoo, there’s a little something for everyone. Pack your lawn chairs, blankets, and favorite movie snacks, grab your family and friends, and enjoy a fun summer evening at one of these outdoor movies in Louisville.

Georgetown Drive-In Theater

Take a quick drive over the bridge for a retro-style movie experience with two screens. Located about 20 minutes outside of Louisville, this long-running drive-in is known for double features, family-friendly pricing, and classic concession-stand snacks. Films are usually announced weekly, so check the website for the most up-to-date info on what’s playing.

Louisville Zoo Cinema Safari

Gather the family for a movie on a giant outdoor screen at the Louisville Zoo. Gates open at 8 p.m. with the show starting at sundown. Admission is typically $5 for non-members and free for zoo members. Concessions are available on-site; no outside food or alcohol is permitted. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome for the following flicks:

  • September 4: Wicked for Good

Sauerbeck Family Drive-In

For a classic drive-in experience, head to Sauerbeck Family Drive-In just outside Louisville. The venue regularly hosts double features that include both nostalgic favorites and current blockbusters. Concessions are available on-site, or you can purchase a $5-per-vehicle food permit if you want to bring your own snacks. Tickets are $11 per adult and $6 per child ages three through 12. Children under three get in free. Guests can watch the following movies from their cars or lawn chairs: 

  • May 15 & 16: Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick 
  • May 21 to 23: Mandalorian and Grogu

Waterfront Park Brown-Forman Amphitheater

Catch a free movie on select Friday nights from May through October, when the Downtown CineBus is at Waterfront Park’s Brown-Forman Amphitheater. Movies start at sundown, with the amphitheater opening an hour before so guests can secure their spots. Snacks and beer will be available for purchase. This year’s flicks include:

  • June 12: The Sandlot 
  • June 19: The Princess and the Frog
  • June 26: National Treasure 
  • July 17: The Princess Bride 
  • July 31: School of Rock
