It seems like every corner of Nashville has a new walk-up window these days, and we’re not complaining. From coffee tucked away in a vintage store to New York-style pizza by the slice, check out these eleven spots around Music City for a quick bite (or drink).
Bobbie’s Dairy Dip
Neighborhood: Sylvan Park/Charlotte
More info: instagram.com/bobbiesdairydip (of note, socials are not kept up to date – this is one of those establishments that just doesn’t need to!)
If there’s a single spot that qualifies as a Nashville rite of passage, it’s this one. Bobbie’s has been on Charlotte Avenue since 1951, opening first as Harper’s Dairy Dip before the late Bobbie McWright bought it in the mid-1980s and gave it her name. The lime green and pink shack has barely changed in six decades: no drive-thru, no indoor seating, just a walk-up window, a scatter of picnic tables, and music coming through the speakers. Order a cone hand-dipped in chocolate, butterscotch, cherry, or peanut butter, because the dip is the whole point. But, don’t forget the burgers with a side of hand-cut fries. Bring the dog, too. Pup cups are on the menu, and the picnic tables are where half of West Nashville seems to end up on a warm evening. It’s a seasonal business, open March through October, which somehow makes the first cone of the year feel like an event.

Open daily, the window serves up a little relief from the Tennessee summer heat. Stop by for rotating flavors and chef-curated toppings.
