Looking for a place to let your dog run wild and free? Canine Memphians are lucky to have their pick of the litter when it comes to dog parks. From small but social spots for urban dwellers to 100-acre fields for dogs with puppy-level energy, these Memphis dog parks offer room to run, obstacles to conquer, and water stations for cooling off during a day of play.

Bartlett Dog Park

Neighborhood: Bartlett
Hours: Daily, 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.

A double-gated entry at Bartlett Dog Park adds extra security for dog owners who are antsy about letting their best friends off-leash. This dog park offers shade throughout its forested areas, kiddie pools, areas for small and big dogs to play separately, and plenty of places for humans to sit and stay. Plus, it’s right next to Bartlett Dog Shelter, making it a sentimental place for pups who found their forever families here.

Central Bark

Neighborhood: South Main

Central Bark turned a neglected vacant lot into a thriving puppy playground. This pop-up dog park in downtown Memphis offers residents of the hip area a place to bring their pups and hang out. With plenty of benches and picnic tables for people, along with dog runs and agility obstacles for the canines, it’s a fun outing for both pups and their humans.

Mud Island Dog Park

Neighborhood: Mud Island/Harbor Town
Hours: Daily, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

For the fancy canine that appreciates a view, Mud Island Dog Park offers a sweeping vista of the riverfront and iconic Memphis bridge. Dogs are allowed on leash throughout Greenbelt Park, but they rule the roost in the dog park. There are two fenced areas (one for smaller dogs and the other for dogs over 25 pounds), lots of shady seating for owners, a water fountain, and room for dogs to get their daily run.

Overton Bark at Overton Park

Neighborhood: Midtown
Hours: Daily, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

With multiple areas for large and small dogs spread over 1.3 acres, Overton Bark is a favorite among Memphians. With plenty of water fountains for scorching summer days, shade from large trees, cleaning stations, and wood-chip surfacing, this Midtown Memphis dog park offers all the amenities dogs need, along with seating for humans to sit back while their pups play.

Shelby Farms Dog Park

Neighborhood: Cordova
Hours: Daily, 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Visitors to Shelby Farms Park love to stroll across the park and the Greenline with their dogs on leash, but there’s a massive field waiting for those who want to run. The Outback at Shelby Farms Dog Park offers more than 100 acres of off-leash fun for pups and the people who love them. The park is also home to cyclists, horseback riders, and anyone seeking outdoor adventures.

Tobey Park

Neighborhood: Midtown

Calling all aspiring canine athletes! Tobey Park features several agility obstacles, along with puppy pools and fenced areas for small and large dogs. You’ll also find covered seats, benches, and picnic tables for the humans. Sounds like the perfect spot for Rover’s next birthday party, right?

Other Dog-Friendly Spaces

These restaurants and breweries have pet-friendly patios so you can enjoy local food and drinks while your pup meets some new friends. A few of these spaces even offer pup cups and other treats, so be sure to ask during your visit!

  • CROSSTOWN BREWING CO.: Near Crosstown Concourse, this Memphis taproom hosts trivia nights and other events. It’s the perfect hangout for your dog, and you’re only steps away from the Crosstown Community Garden.
  • LOFLIN YARD: Located downtown, not far from Martyr’s Park, visit Loflin Yard after walking your dog by the river. It offers plenty of outdoor seating and a menu featuring brunch, snacks, hearty meals, and one-of-a-kind drinks.
  • GHOST RIVER BREWING: Sit on the patio here while sipping on housemade brews. Try pairing your drink with a shareable plate of wings or pretzel bites.
  • ALDO’S PIZZA PIES: Offering two Memphis locations — one in Midtown and one downtown — Aldo’s is home to dog-friendly patios and fresh Italian favorites. You can even build your own pizza here!
  • CORDELIA’S MARKET: Located in Harbor Town, this eatery offers the perfect laid-back vibes for lunch with your pet. Take a stroll down by the water, then pop by Cordelia’s for sandwiches, nachos, and other fresh bites. You can even shop for dog treats at the store.
  • CENTRAL BBQ: Offering plenty of pup-friendly patios around town, you can enjoy classic Memphis barbecue during your outing. Some locations also include cornhole and TVs for watching sports.
