Cooler days, glowing pumpkins, spooky season, and a packed October calendar? We’re in. Louisville has plenty happening this month, with art, live performances, local flavor, and fall festivities filling the schedule. Here are some of the best local events to know about!
October 1 – November 1, 2026: Jack’s Lantern Trail
Wander through the woods of Iroquois Park as thousands of artistically carved pumpkins illuminate larger-than-life displays set to music. The new Jack’s Lantern Trail brings fresh creativity to the familiar setting while continuing a beloved South Louisville fall tradition. October 1 – November 1, 2026: Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom Featuring Jack O’Lantern Spectacular
Play all day and glow into the night as the Jack O’Lantern Spectacular settles into its new home at Kentucky Kingdom. Attendees can explore more than 6,000 illuminated pumpkins, larger-than-life sculptures, trick-or-treat stations, a hay maze, live entertainment, and more than 30 rides. October 1 – 4, 8 – 11, 15 – 18, 22 – 25 & 29 – 30, 2026: Boo at the Zoo
Treat the kiddos to a merry-not-scary Halloween adventure during the Louisville Zoo’s beloved after-hours celebration, offered on select evenings. Children ages 11 and younger can trick or treat along a 1.3-mile route, ride the Spooktacular Carousel, encounter the Headless Horseman, and explore a walk-through spider house. October 2 – 4, 2026: St. James Court Art Show

October 2 – 4, 2026: Louisville Home & Hot Tub Show
Gather ideas for your next renovation or backyard refresh at the Kentucky Exposition Center. This free, three-day show brings together professionals specializing in kitchen and bathroom remodeling, windows, gutters, pools, hot tubs, and home systems. October 3, 2026: Wine on the River
Sip your way around the world during this tasting event at Waterfront Park’s Big Four Lawn. October 3, 2026: Ghost Light Gala & After(life) Party
Dress to bewitch for an elegantly eerie evening at Actors Theatre of Louisville. October 3 & 4, 2026: BowmanFest
Celebrate 10 years of aviation history and family fun as BowmanFest returns to historic Bowman Field. See more than 40 aircraft, vintage warbirds, military vehicles, a classic car show, and twice-daily aerobatic performances, including one by U.S. Advanced Aerobatic Champion Britt Lincoln. Saturday also features the IPA 5K on the Runway and an evening concert by Juice Box Heroes. Celebrate autumn in downtown New Albany! Festivities begin with the Harvest Homecoming Parade on October 3, followed by a week of contests, family activities, and community events. October 6 – 11, 2026: Jersey Boys on PNC Broadway in Louisville

October 9 & 11, 2026: The Barber of Seville
Laugh along as Kentucky Opera opens its season with Rossini’s madcap comedy at the W.L. Lyons Brown Theatre. October 11, 2026: The Ten Taste Experience
Dress up and indulge in an elegant evening of food, cocktails, and wine at APRON Inc.’s Ten Taste Experience. Talented local chefs serve thoughtfully crafted bites at The Olmsted, with Dawne Gee adding plenty of personality as emcee. This year’s event honors the late Chef Ellen Gill McCarty while supporting independent restaurant workers throughout the Louisville area. October 14, 2026: Taste of Louisville

Trick or treat like a grown-up when the Louisville Zoo transforms its Halloween route into an adults-only party. October 17, 2026: Urban Bourbon Half Marathon & 5K
Run through downtown Louisville and the fall foliage of Cherokee Park during this 21-and-older race celebrating the city’s bourbon heritage. Choose the 13.1-mile course or the returning 5K, then join the post-race Urban Bourbon Bash for live music, bourbon samples, beer, pizza, and soup. October 18, 2026: Pumpkins & Pirouettes
Follow the yellow brick road to Louisville Ballet’s downtown studios for a family-friendly afternoon of fall fun.
