August in Louisville is packed with events worth adding to your calendar! The city’s final stretch of summer brings outdoor festivals, live music, cultural celebrations, the Kentucky State Fair, and plenty of local experiences to enjoy. We’ve rounded up the best Louisville events and happenings to help you make the most of the season.

Through August 9, 2026: Kentucky Shakespeare Festival

One of Louisville’s favorite summer traditions returns as the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival takes over Central Park for its 66th season. The August lineup includes productions of Romeo & Juliet and Hamlet & Ophelia. Nightly festivities begin at 6 p.m. with food trucks, followed by kid-friendly activities, pre-show entertainment, and performances at 8 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. kyshakespeare.com

August 1, 2026: Fox Fest 2026

Rock out at Fox Fest, an all-day, 21-and-older music festival at The Fox Den. The lineup features RA, Signal the Revolution, Flaw, Foxbat, Softspoken, Benjee Howard, Boombox Poets, Hannan, Hooker, Throwback Thursday, and Neon Sugar.

August 1, 2026: Frazier Summer Beer Fest

Raise a glass at the annual Frazier Summer Beer Fest, featuring more than 250 specialty beers, food, live music, and selections from local, regional, and national breweries. This rain-or-shine fundraiser runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Frazier History Museum and is limited to guests ages 21 and older. August 4, 2026: Botany of Bourbon at Kentucky Artisan Distillery

Discover the science behind America’s native spirit during this Yew Dell Botanical Gardens program at Kentucky Artisan Distillery. Explore the biochemistry of bourbon making and the natural history of the grains that make it possible, followed by a distillery tour and bourbon tasting with Master Distiller Jade Peterson. Light bites are included.

August 5, 2026: The Manchester x Murray’s Guest Chef Dinner

Chefs Lawrence Weeks and Paula Endara — a contestant on Top Chef Season 22 — are joining forces for a one-night-only dinner at Murray’s Creole Pub. August 6 – 9, 2026: NSRA Street Rod Nationals

Admire an impressive collection of 30-year-old (and older) vehicles during the 57th Annual NSRA Street Rod Nationals at the Kentucky Exposition Center. The four-day event also features commercial exhibitors, a swap meet, Builders’ Showcase, Kid Zone, RC cars, live entertainment, and Sunday’s Circle of Winners. August 7 & 8, 2026: Louisville Jazz Festival

Spend two evenings enjoying contemporary jazz at Iroquois Amphitheater. Friday’s lineup features Boney James, Marcus Miller, and Avery Sunshine, followed Saturday by Brian Culbertson, Marion Meadows, and Lindsey Webster. August 8, 2026: Island Rock Fest

Escape to the islands without leaving Louisville at the inaugural Island Rock Fest, a free outdoor music festival at LouLou on Market. Put your knowledge to the test during an after-hours trivia night at the Louisville Zoo featuring a super-secret theme. Raise a glass to Bourbon Women’s 15th anniversary at SIPosium, a four-day conference at Louisville Marriott East. August 15, 2026: American Whiskey Festival

Experience Bernheim after dark during CONNECT, the forest’s annual summer celebration of art, music, and nature. Stay gold! The winner of four Tony Awards, including Best Musical, brings S.E. August 20, 2026: Money Talks: Coffee & Conversation

We talk about our careers, our families, our health. But money? That one gets quiet. StyleBlueprint Louisville and Wealth of a Woman are gathering a group of Louisville women at the Speed Art Museum for a morning of coffee, candid conversation, and connection. August 20 – 30, 2026: Kentucky State Fair

Celebrate Kentucky’s agriculture, food, music, and traditions during festivities at the Kentucky Exposition Center. August 22, 2026: Filson Day at Oxmoor

Explore more than two centuries of history at Oxmoor Farm during this open house presented by the Filson Historical Society. Filson staff, volunteers, and special displays featuring manuscripts, photographs, and other archival materials bring their experiences to life. Elite American Saddlebreds, Hackney Ponies, and Road Horses compete for world titles during this prestigious annual show at Freedom Hall. August 26, 2026: Waterfront Wednesday

Listen to live music along the Ohio River during August’s installment of Waterfront Wednesday, Louisville’s beloved free concert series presented by Louisville Public Media and WFPK. Held at the Big Four Lawn at Waterfront Park, the event begins at 5 p.m. and features a lineup of national and regional artists and local food vendors.
