July in Louisville is bursting with more excitement than a firecracker on the Fourth! Whether you’re celebrating America’s 250th birthday, catching live performances under the stars, cheering on local teams, or discovering new culinary flavors, you’ll feel the energy. We’ve rounded up the best Louisville events and happenings around town this month to help you make memorable summer moments.

Through July 26, 2026: Wild Lights at The Louisville Zoo

Explore the magic of the Louisville Zoo at night during Wild Lights. You’ll journey through four immersive, themed realms — Magical Forest, Magical Ocean, Pre-Historic Animals, and Wondrous Asia — brought to life through vibrant colors, larger-than-life sculptures, and intricate cultural craftsmanship. Through August 9, 2026: Kentucky Shakespeare Festival

One of Louisville’s favorite summer traditions returns as the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival takes over Central Park for its 66th season. This year’s lineup includes productions of As You Like It, Antony and Cleopatra, and The Two Gentlemen of Verona. July 4, 2026: Dawn’s Early Light

Celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a powerful sunrise gathering at Historic Locust Grove. Arrive before daybreak to gather around a sacred fire tended by local Indigenous elders, and reflect on the nation’s anniversary through Indigenous song and dance, blessings to the four winds, interfaith celebrations, and community fellowship. July 4, 2026: Crescent Hill 4th of July Festival

Louisville’s longest-running Independence Day celebration returns to the historic Peterson-Dumesnil House. The free, family-friendly festival features an art fair, food trucks, craft beer, live music, a cake wheel, a silent auction, and more. Musical performances include jazz from Gary Falk and the Falklanders, honky-tonk favorites from the Allen Lane Band, and classic rock from Stonewheel. July 4, 2026: America 250 Fourth of July Celebration at Bernheim

It’s patriotic fun for the whole family at Bernheim, where you can enjoy patriotic-themed activities, hands-on nature experiences, live entertainment, and opportunities to explore the area’s forests, trails, and outdoor attractions. July 4, 2026: Waterfront Park Fourth of July

For family-friendly fun, head to the Great Lawn for a free event featuring live music, food and drinks, Brown-Forman bars, and plenty of hands-on activities. July 9 & 23, 2026: Daycap at Angel’s Envy

Sip your way into summer at Daycap, a new biweekly happy hour series hosted by Angel’s Envy. Held every other Thursday through August 20, the event showcases seasonal cocktails, rotating local food vendors, live music, and a laid-back atmosphere perfect for winding down after work. July 11, 2026: The JTown Big Pour

Raise a glass at the JTown Big Pour, formerly known as the Jeffersontown Summer Craft Beer Fest. Held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Gaslight Pavilion and 3rd Turn Brewing, the event features a wide variety of beer, bourbon, wine, and spirits tastings, along with food, live entertainment, and plenty of opportunities to discover new favorites. July 11, 2026: Louisville City FC vs. Lexington SC — Commonwealth Cup

Cheer on Louisville City FC as it takes on rival Lexington SC in the latest edition of the Commonwealth Cup. One of the club’s most anticipated matchups of the season, the rivalry game pits Kentucky’s two professional soccer clubs against each other as they vie for the Commonwealth Cup trophy. July 11 & 25, 2026: 250 Years of Valor — An American Film Series

Watch classic films under the stars as Oxmoor Farm celebrates America’s 250th birthday with the 250 Years of Valor film series. Sample your way through dozens of sweet and savory bites as the Louisville Street Food Festival returns to Fourth Street Live. In addition to the food, you’ll enjoy live entertainment, cooking demonstrations, vendor booths, axe-throwing, mechanical bull rides, family-friendly activities, and eating challenges. July 26 – 28, 2026: Dainty Fest & World Championship Dainty Contest

Experience one of Louisville’s quirkiest and most beloved traditions at Dainty Fest, returning to Schnitzelburg for a weekend of community celebrations leading up to the 56th Annual World Championship Dainty Contest. Festivities typically include live music, food and drinks, family-friendly activities, carnival games, and a Dainty batting cage. You can also try your hand at the city’s famous German street game, where competitors ages 45 and older use a broomstick to launch a small wooden peg as far as possible. July 29, 2026: Waterfront Wednesday

Listen to live music along the Ohio River during July’s installment of Waterfront Wednesday, Louisville’s beloved free concert series presented by Louisville Public Media and WFPK. Held at the Big Four Lawn at Waterfront Park, the event begins at 5 p.m. and features a lineup of national and regional artists and local food vendors. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and settle in for an evening of tunes.
