Homey, rustic charm was at the heart of Lindsey and Matt Triplett’s North Georgia wedding on June 6, 2015. Paying homage to the country upbringing of the groom, who grew up in the mountains of Hayesville, NC, and the bride’s desire to create a laid-back, yet captivating, event, the two tied the knot at Georgia’s The Barn at High Point Farms, just south of Lookout Mountain, on the way to Chattanooga.
“We chose [The Barn at High Point Farms] because we felt it reflected both of us,” says Lindsey. “Matt is from the mountains, so we wanted something in North Georgia, but also something elegant and beautiful, so I could look back on pictures and have my breath be taken away from the beauty of the venue and décor.”
This Loganville bride wove the look and feel of the charming rustic venue into every aspect of the event, from the bridal party’s footwear (how cute do those cowboy boots look with the blush dresses?) to the groom and groomsmen’s blue jeans and matching vests. In fact, the low-key vibe was even felt as the guys played corn hole before the ceremony began. The guests had a chance to throw the corn hole bean bags around during the reception, as well.
Guests enjoyed the outdoorsy, country vibe in every aspect of this memorable wedding. They walked around the working farm, seeing horses and lambs in the background, as they approached the ceremony site. Family and friends were asked to take wildflower seeds home, to plant in their own yards, sign a custom board honoring the couple’s Georgia and North Carolina roots and be part of their personalized service celebrating the love between Lindsey and Matt and their 4-year-old daughter, flower girl Madalynn.
The only thing better than the rustic ceremony was the jubilant reception set under the barn’s twinkling lights and fabulous Mason jar chandelier. The crowd was treated to barbecue, chicken, potato salad and all the fixings, as well as lemonade, beer, wine and that true Southern staple, sweet tea. The cake had an interesting twist — a hybrid dessert featuring a cake topper and individual cupcakes, all displayed on an impressive custom wooden tier. The groom’s cake resembled that of a freshly cut log, with the couple’s initials “carved” into the side and sugar antlers atop.
Each one of the 60 guests had a great time cutting loose on the dance floor with the adorable couple, who met while working together at Cable East Inc. As Lindsey puts it, “We met at work, but weren’t actually together for a while after meeting. We always crossed paths, kept in touch and got butterflies when running into each other. I more so pursued Matt when we first met … he has the most beautiful green eyes I’d ever seen, which drew me in and eventually, he gave into the idea of a relationship. We have been together ever since.”
As the sun set over the wedding scene, Lindsey looks back fondly on her day. “My biggest expectation was actually seeing Matt for the first time that day — I felt completely overcome with emotion, but so calm at the same time. I was so focused on him I don’t even remember hearing the song playing while walking down the aisle, and I believe that’s exactly how I should have felt. My favorite part of the day was being able to share our love with all of our family and closest friends; it was emotional, calm and sweet.”
