If you’re looking for a way to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, we stumbled upon a Birmingham company marking the occasion in a fun and colorful way. English Village Lane, a Birmingham-based rug company serving clients across the U.S., is celebrating with a new “Americana” collection, complete with 13 one-of-a-kind rugs. Yes, 13 rugs as a nod to the original 13 colonies.

The “Americana” collection is, of course, made up of different shades of red, white, and blue, but the rugs have a timeless appeal. Each piece showcases different classic textile patterns and styles while lending a new take on American design and interior style.
“To us, Americana is found in the nostalgia of the things and ideas you grew up with,” says founder Angie Burge. “It’s your grandmother’s quilt folded at the foot of the bed, the blue and white china collected over generations, the view from the backseat on a family road trip, and the simple moments that became lifelong memories. It’s a celebration of the places, people, and traditions that shaped us.”

Angie and her team work hard to create rugs that mean something to the clients through a customized process, and the work is paying off. English Village Lane recently won a national award for the best area rug manufacturer from the Dallas Market Center and ARTS Awards.

It would be tough to pick a favorite rug from the collection, but we love the playful feel of “Lady Liberty Blue” for a children’s playroom or a fun pop of color in an entryway. Check out the entire Americana collection on English Village Lane’s website.
