Common Ground: The Hainsworth Collection in Conversation with Cheekwood’s Permanent Collection
Common Ground brings together, for the first time, paintings from the Hainsworth family collection and Cheekwood’s permanent collection to create a rich visual survey of American painting from 1876 to 1940. Displayed side by side, these two Nashville-based collections form a dynamic dialogue that highlights shared cultural aspirations while revealing contrasting artistic visions. The exhibition explores major American art movements — from the Hudson River School to American Impressionism and the Ashcan School — offering visitors a vibrant and expanded perspective on the evolution of American art.
The exhibition will be on view from February 7 to June 21, 2026, Tuesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Cheekwood Estate & Gardens, 1200 Forrest Park Drive, Nashville, TN 37205. Admission is free for members, while tickets for adult non-members range from $27 to $29 and for youth non-members from $20 to $22. More details can be found at HERE.
