July is right around the corner, and we can barely wait. It’s time to start celebrating the official arrival of summer, starting with Independence Day! For this month’s edition of What to Wear, we ventured to the dreamy Aldridge Gardens with Miss Alabama USA 2017, Baylee Smith, and Mrs. Alabama America 2017, Brittany Scoggins, to bring you 12 stylish looks perfect for the Fourth of July and more. Today’s suggestions come from local boutiques Mia Moda, Manhattan South and The Clothes Tree, and these looks are perfect for three upcoming events in the Magic City: Sloss Music & Arts Festival, Thunder on the Mountain and KultureBALL 2017. Happy July!

The Event: Thunder on the Mountain

  • July 4, 2017
  • Fireworks begin at 9 p.m.
  • Admission is free.
  • For more information, visit visitvulcan.com.

For decades, Thunder on the Mountain has been Birmingham’s best way to celebrate the Fourth of July. Gather around our beloved Iron Man this July 4, 2017, at Vulcan Park and Museum for an unforgettable night celebrating the USA! This year’s Thunder on the Mountain show will last approximately 20 minutes and will illuminate the Magic City skies with a soundtrack of patriotic favorites. Grab the whole family, and head out to Vulcan this Fourth of July!

What to Wear: Although the event is at night, the Alabama heat is ever-present this time of year. With help from Cahaba Heights boutique Manhattan South, we’ve styled four comfortable yet chic looks ideal for relaxing around Vulcan and enjoying the show. In pastel blues, statement earrings and comfortable shorts, these style suggestions are just the right amount of festive without being over the top.
