Summer Veggie Salad in Avocado Cups

If you’re trying to make an impression with your cookout lineup, keep an eye on the presentation. Courtesy of Robbie Dyson of The Happy Catering Co. in Homewood, AL, this simple summer salad takes less than 20 minutes to prepare and can be made ahead of time — but serving it up in avocado halves takes it to a whole new level.

Robbie also offers some advice when prepping the avocado cups: “The more it sits and marinates, the better it will be.” To see the full recipe, click HERE.

Roasted Chicken Skewers with Alabama White Sauce

Perfect for your cookout’s main event or a light bite before the burgers and dogs come off the grill, these chicken skewers from Birmingham’s Tre Luna Catering are super tender and full of flavor. Oh, and did we mention they threw in the recipe for their homemade Alabama white BBQ sauce? For optimum texture and flavor, they recommend using chicken thighs. Fourth of July Pretzel Pie

Treat yourself and your guests to a dessert that is equal parts delicious and patriotic. From the experts at Birmingham’s Table & Thyme, this pretzel crust pie uses a cheesecake filling and fresh fruit. You can also get creative and use substitutions where you see fit (think raspberries, cherries, and blackberries). And when July 4th has come and gone, you can easily swap the strawberries and blueberries for different seasonal fruits. To see the full recipe, click HERE.
