Whether you’re planning a girls’ day out, a family adventure, or simply want to bring home a fresh bouquet, U-pick flower farms offer a little something for everyone. With a colorful mix of floral options just waiting to be picked, these flower farms near Birmingham are well worth the drive.

Blue Rooster Farms

Since shifting its focus to flowers in 2020, Blue Rooster Farms has become a go-to destination for Birmingham residents seeking colorful blooms. Located just down the road in Shelby County, the farm has 30 to 40 flower varieties growing throughout the season.

Beyond U-pick flowers, the farm also hosts workshops, date nights, birthday parties, and smaller group gatherings, making it a fun destination whether you’re planning a family outing or simply looking for a peaceful escape.

U-pick experiences are available by appointment, giving you plenty of space to wander the fields and create a bouquet that’s uniquely your own. Reservations can be made through the farm’s website, with dates and times updated regularly based on the weather. U-pick hours are held every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on most Fridays (same hours), though the schedule occasionally shifts for special events. The business began with a vintage 1963 Ford Econoline that transformed into a pop-up shop on wheels. Today, the beloved original β€” along with a second vintage truck β€” can be found at events throughout Birmingham.

4D Farm

Just outside Cullman, 4D Farm is one to keep on your radar β€” especially for its annual spring Tulip Festival when the fields burst into color. This seasonal favorite draws visitors from across the region who come to enjoy these few picture-perfect weeks outdoors.

After the tulips have their moment in the spotlight, the farm presses through the summer, reopening its fields in the fall.
