Memphis in March is sizzling with fresh flavors and bold new dining experiences. Whether you’re craving Asian-inspired cuisine with a modern twist or a stacked deli sandwich that hits all the right notes, the city’s culinary scene is serving up something for every appetite. This month, weβre spotlighting four buzz-worthy new restaurants that are bringing serious flavor β and plenty of personality β to the table.
Roosterβs Blue House
Neighborhood: Highland Row
More Info: roostersblueshouse.com
Roosterβs Blue House restaurant promises to be as colorful as the owner himself. A former boxer (show name, Rooster T. Feathers), a bouncer, and an entrepreneur several times over, Scott Michael has had an interesting life. Itβs all the more reason to visit his new restaurant on Highland Avenue. An old storefront cleverly converted to resemble a Mississippi juke joint, it has wide wood flooring, rusted tin walls, mason jar pendant lighting, great musical guests, and a stage set for a great time.
Enjoy appetizers, tacos, mac and cheese, and the house sliders, “Boxers.” Happy hour is from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with different dishes discounted daily. On Sundays, try the $5 Mimosas, Screwdrivers, and Bloody Marys.

Kura House Asian Cuisine
Neighborhood: Central Gardens
More Info: kurahouseasiancuisine.com
Try something different at Kura House Asian Cuisine, one of the cutest boutique restaurants in Midtown Memphis. Prepare to be wowed by the hot Kushiyaki (skewers of chicken, shrimp, or steak and vegetables seasoned with teriyaki glaze) or the savory salmon, Hawaiian, or tuna poke bowls. The hours are convenient, and the restaurant is open seven days a week. Plan to dine in or pick up and enjoy your meal at home. Online orders are also welcome.

Hard Times Deli
Neighborhood: Edge District
More Info: Instagram
Located near Sun Studio, Hard Times Deli is a new sandwich shop in the Edge District, named for the dues the owners had to pay before enjoying the success they have today. Previously the location of a dive bar called Escape Alley, Hard Times Deli is an excellent addition to the neighborhood. True to the area’s aesthetic this eatery adds to the landscape with its vintage style and decor.
Enjoy hot, cold, and vegetarian sandwiches made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Sides, soups, salads, and soft-serve ice cream are also on tap. The deli is closed Sunday and Monday, but it is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Little Petals
Neighborhood: Downtown
More Info: petalsofapeony.com
Little Petals is an offshoot of Chinese restaurant Petals of a Peony. While the other two locations are bigger and have a more traditional restaurant feel, Little Petals offers the most popular dishes and traditional flavors with a casual twist. For instance, you can snag a “lunch box” with combinations that will surely be a crowd favorite at lunchtime.
