You would be hard pressed to find someone who has never spotted a piece of avocado toast in their Instagram feed or, more likely, someone snapping a photo of their own avocado toast a table over. The food trend popped onto the scene several years ago, and it seems that it’s here to stay (much to Chip Gaines’s dismay). As a huge fan myself, I have set out to try as many avocado toast servings as possible here in Nashville. Turns out, you’ll find them on many of the breakfast, brunch and lunch menus here in town, and we’re still exploring all of the options. To aid in your avocado toast pursuits, we’re sharing where to find the green goodness that we’ve discovered and what stands out about each one.

While it seems like a stretch to credit any one person or place with smashing avocado on bread, rumor has it that the trend started in Australia. So, Nashville’s only Aussie café was a must-visit for this roundup. This iteration at 37 Degrees South is paired with tahini (an unexpected delight!), feta, red pepper flakes and fresh tomatoes, and of course, we always add an egg when we can. We’ll return to enjoy this one!

Yummy feta cheese and tomatoes top this toast.
