What inspired you to become a luxury travel content creator, and how did your Passports & Grub journey begin?
My love of travel is rooted in my childhood experiences — or, rather, the lack of them. Growing up in Memphis, we didn’t have the means for vacations, and I never even saw a swimming pool until I was an adult. Summer vacations? Those were just things I saw on TV.
When I finally ventured outside of Memphis, it was like the world burst wide open. I realized there was so much beauty, culture, and adventure out there waiting to be discovered. That’s when Passports & Grub was born. I wanted to inspire other Black people — especially those who may not have grown up traveling — to see the world unapologetically and know they belong in every corner of it — whether that’s sipping cocktails in a luxury overwater bungalow or hiking trails in the Swiss Alps.
Travel has been life-changing for me, and now, through my platform, I’m on a mission to help others experience the same magic.
As Vice President and Director of Partnerships for the Black Travel Alliance, how is the organization shaping the travel industry’s diversity and inclusion?
I’m incredibly proud to be part of an organization actively reshaping the travel industry.
Our mission goes beyond representation. We work to hold brands and destinations accountable for equitable practices, ensuring that marketing campaigns, partnerships, and opportunities truly reflect the diverse world we live in. We also focus on professional development, offering tools and resources to help Black creators thrive.
At its core, our work is about creating a travel industry where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and inspired to explore. By driving these conversations and initiatives, we’re not just making space at the table; we’re building a bigger, better table for everyone.

What are the biggest challenges in the travel industry right now?
One of the biggest challenges is that brands do not fully understand how much the media landscape has changed. Traditional media is no longer the sole powerhouse it once was; creators have become the new go-to source for authentic, relatable storytelling that audiences trust.
For me, it’s about helping brands and destinations see this shift and embrace it. By working with creators as valued partners, they can tap into new audiences, stay relevant, and tell their stories in ways that truly resonate.
Is there a memorable travel story you can share with us — whether inspiring, hilarious, or harrowing?
One of my most memorable travel experiences was my recent trip to Jordan; it truly reinforced why travel is so important. Before the trip, everyone — including myself — had concerns about me traveling to the Middle East. So much of what we hear about the region comes from the media, which can paint a picture that’s far from the truth. I’m so glad I didn’t let fear hold me back; Jordan turned out to be one of the most incredible experiences of my life.
From the warm, welcoming people to the stunning landscapes and mouthwatering cuisine, Jordan completely shattered my expectations. Whether I was floating in the Dead Sea, wandering through the ancient city of Petra, or sharing meals with locals, every moment felt like a gift. And let me tell you, I’ve never felt safer traveling anywhere!
This trip was also one of my most rewarding partnerships, allowing me to share the beauty of Jordan with my audience and challenge the misconceptions many of us have. It’s a powerful reminder that travel expands our worldview. If I’d listened to stereotypes, I would’ve missed out on a truly life-changing experience.

What ONE piece of advice would you offer to those who are planning a trip?
Research the culture and don’t act entitled. Travel is a privilege, not a right, and it’s important to approach every destination with respect for its traditions, people, and way of life. Take the time to learn a few phrases in the local language, understand cultural norms, and remember that you’re a guest in someone else’s home.
When you travel with humility and an open mind, the experiences you gain will be much richer, and you’ll leave a positive impression behind, too.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
It was from Martinique Lewis: “It’s never too late to rewrite your story.” As a 53-year-old Black woman thriving in the content-creation space, age is not a limitation; it’s an asset. Life experience, resilience, and perspective are invaluable, and they give you a unique voice that no one else can replicate.
Stepping into this industry later in life, I’ve learned that success isn’t about fitting into anyone else’s timeline. It’s about showing up authentically, owning your journey, and proving that passion and hard work know no age limits.
Excluding faith, family, and friends, what three things can’t you live without?
Cocktails, Vaseline, and Dr. Perricone MD facial products. A good cocktail is my go-to for unwinding. Whether it’s a crisp margarita or a perfectly crafted martini, it’s always a vibe. Vaseline? That’s a lifelong staple for keeping everything from lips to elbows on point. And Dr. Perricone, MD? Let’s just say, at 53, I owe them a “thank you” note for helping me make sure this Black ain’t cracking!

Favorite hidden gem in Nashville? Inner G Juice Bar! It’s this amazing Black-owned spot where I go whenever I need a pick-me-up.
What’s at the top of your travel bucket list? Vietnam. I’ve read so much about it, and I’m itching to see it for myself.

Most underrated destination in the South? Hands down, Santa Rosa Beach, FL. It’s a hidden gem with pristine white sand, turquoise waters, and a laid-back vibe that’s perfect for recharging. My daughter and I make it a point to go every year, and it’s become our little slice of paradise.
