Planets: Holst’s The Planets & Walton’s Viola Concerto
Conductor Daniel Cho leads the Alabama Symphony Orchestra in Gustav Holst’s The Planets, a seven-movement orchestral suite that journeys from the martial intensity of “Mars” to the ethereal, wordless chorus of “Neptune.” The program also features William Walton’s Viola Concerto, pairing Holst’s sweeping musical portrait of the solar system with a celebrated work for viola and orchestra. Tickets for the 11 a.m. Coffee Concert range from $22 to $42, while evening performances range from $36 to $90. alabamasymphony.org
