As the world faces a war against COVID-19, our healthcare workers are on the frontlines caring for patients while risking their own health. The Birmingham community has shown a united front as local businesses, restaurants and organizations come together to extend support for these workers. We will continue to update this article as more businesses continue to pitch in, so check back frequently. But for now, here are some ways local businesses are supporting our local healthcare workers — and how you can help, too.
Restaurants
Continental Bakery
Continental Bakery is offering free coffee and breakfast to medical professionals with a valid ID. They are also offering a 10 percent discount on other purchases at the bakery.
Real & Rosemary
Real & Rosemary is consistently serving hundres of meals and coffee to healthcare workers each week thanks to donations from the Hero Meal and Hero Coffee program. If you would like to purchase a Hero Meal or Hero Coffee to be delivered in the coming weeks, you can place your order here.

Organizations
Life Lutzurious
Local Birmingham blogger, Lindsey Lutz of Life Lutzurious, launched an initiative partnering with Birmingham restaurants and businesses to provide meals to healthcare workers. Frontline Heroes hopes to serve 1,400 meals weekly with the help of the community. To purchase a meal for a healthcare hero or to simply donate to the cause, send money via Venmo to @frontlineheroes.
BHMcares
Started by ICU physician Dr. Brandon White, BHMcares is a campaign designed to provide meals to local healthcare workers from local restaurants. BHMcares is partnering with Birmingham restaurants like Unos Tacos, Melt, Fancy’s on 5th and many more. They are also accepting donations from the community via PayPal.

Food For Our Journey
Food For Our Journey has launched project #foodforthefrontlines. Local restaurants are sending food to those working the front lines at hospitals, police departments, and fire departments with donations from the local community. Donate via Paypal, Venmo to @foodforourjourney, and Amazon Smile.
The Phoenix Club of Birmingham, Jimmy John’s of Birmingham and The Trak Shak
Three Birmingham companies have teamed up to raise money to help feed our local healthcare workers. The Trak Shak’s Miles for Meals encourages the community to sign up to complete a 3- (or more) mile walk or run on your own anytime (or daily) from April 3 until April 12 to support of the Phoenix Club of Birmingham’s Pay It Forward campaign. Each $20 donated for every 3 miles will provide three free Jimmy John’s meals to healthcare workers on the front line of this pandemic.
Urban Avenues
Local non-profit Urban Avenues recently launched CareHealth to collect donations from the community to purchase meals for health care workers and generate much-needed revenue for Birmingham’s local restaurants. To donate and learn more, visit urbanavenues.com.
Stay strong, Birmingham. We’re all in this together!
